Yesterday, Cassette Beasts hit the PC Game Pass library, and at the time we only had an Xbox release window of 'late spring' 2023. Well, the team has just revealed the exact Xbox date, and now we can't wait for the Pokémon-like RPG to come to the console library.
Cassette Beasts launches on Xbox Game Pass on May 25th, 2023, and early reviews for the PC release have us rather excited to try this one out. The game current sits at 86 on Metacritic and 88 on OpenCritic, with a top review claiming this to be "one of the best Pokémon-like games" they've played. Sounds very promising indeed!
TheSixthAxis: "Cassette Beasts is simply one of the best Pokémon-like games I’ve come across, and I’m looking forward to earning a 100% completion. With a massive end-game and modder support built in at release though, I feel like I’m going to get very sidetracked on the way there."
Here's a quick look at this upcoming Xbox Game Pass title ahead of its late May release:
Cassette Beasts (Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S - May 25)
"Cassette Beasts is a creature-collecting-and-fusing open-world RPG where players will discover over 100 awesome monsters to collect and transform into during exciting turn-based battles on an imaginative journey of exploration and friendship.
Explore an island and record a menagerie of mighty monsters to your trusty cassette tapes to gain their abilities and find a way home. You can even combine two creatures together to make powerful new forms with shared elemental types, stats, and move sets."
Is this an Xbox Game Pass title you might try out next month? Let us know what you think to it!

Was playing it on the PC last night and really enjoyed it, gameplay is fun and the soundtrack is brilliant. For those who don't like vocals in the soundtrack you can even turn those off.
Bonus points for being set in an alternate version of where I live!
I suppose ill check this out next month.
It looks very interesting, but I am not a fan of the art style. It’s silly to say, but it appears to be way too “kiddish” in my opinion. I’ll still probably give it a go, though.
Cassette Beasts and where to find them
One of the monsters is called Skelevangelist. I'm in.
I like Pokémon, but I've been waiting a 'clone' that could shake things up and move the formula forward. With those reviews, this game is a godsend.
This looks great. After giving up on Pokemon Violet after 10 hours, maybe something different is what I need!
@BlackMayge it's knockoff pokemon, of course it's going to be childish.
Looks cool. Will definitely check it out when it drops.
