Last month, Ubisoft revealed that its impressive city-builder Anno 1800 was finally heading to consoles this March, after years of being exclusive to PC. Following this much-welcome announcement, we've got another huge win - the console version will be completely free-to-play for its launch week!
Yep, the team has revealed that from the game's release date, March 16th, through to March 23rd, Anno 1800 will be free to try out on Xbox Series X|S. You'll get access to the full game for that week, after which the game will cost £34.99 / $39.99.
Progress carries over from the free trial week as well, so if the free-to-play period does convince you, you won't have to start from scratch again after purchasing the full version. Here's a brief introduction for what Anno 1800 is bringing to Xbox Series X and S players on March 16th:
"Welcome to the dawn of the Industrial Age in this city-building real-time strategy game. Experience one of the most exciting and fast-changing periods of all time as you discover new technologies, regions, and societies, implement your own strategy, and build a new world to your design.
Play solo or use the online mode to play PvP or co-op modes: How the world remembers your name is up to you."
Will you be giving this free access week a whirl? Let us know!

Great news. This has been on my list for some time, but I was a bit concerned about the controls. Glad to have an opportunity to test it.
I am glad there is a trial period as otherwise meh…
Will be there K&M support?
Good move from Ubisoft. I guess with this releasing so close to Settlers they needed to do something to entice players. I’ll definitely be giving it a go!
Might check it out if it hits Gamepass, I refuse to buy Ubisoft games on PC anymore due to their DRM.
