Update (Wed 29th Mar, 2023): Atlas Fallen has since suffered a slight delay - it now releases on August 10th, 2023.
"Our goal has always been to create a memorable A-RPG experience in a unique setting, with exciting gameplay and the option for fully playable seamless co-op with a friend. We'd love to give the game some extra time which will allow us to deliver the best possible version of Atlas Fallen."
Original story (Wed 15th Mar, 2023): During last year's Gamescom Opening Night Live show, the team at Deck 13 announced its latest action RPG in the form of Atlas Fallen, which looked pretty impressive at the time. Six months or so later, the team is finally ready to debut some proper gameplay... well, a tiny slice of it anyway.
Yep, the dev's new gameplay reveal trailer is up above, showcasing some of the large scale battles you'll be facing in Atlas Fallen when it launches this May. There's not a lot to go off admittedly, but what's here looks like good action-oriented fun.
We're quite impressed with this one visually as well, at least from what we've seen so far, which makes sense given that it's a current-gen exclusive and won't be launching on Xbox One.
As for the specific date? Atlas Fallen arrives for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S on May 16th, so there's not long to wait for this upcoming action RPG!
"Rise from the dust and liberate mankind from the oppression of corrupted gods.Glide the sands of a timeless land, filled with ancient dangers, mysteries and fragments of the past. Hunt legendary monsters, using powerful, shape-shifting weapons and devastating sand-powered abilities in spectacular, super-powered combat.
Target and gather the essence of your enemies to shape your own custom playstyle, forging a new era for humanity in a fully cooperative or solo story campaign."

8 out of 10 sleeper hit incoming!
Looks like another Souls like game. Hopefully that is not the case and its more like a Final Fantasy style game.
Looks cool. But this is still just tiny little snippets of what are probably the highlights. I really need to see proper uninterrupted gameplay to gauge my interest. Apparently there is a 9 minute video coming on Friday, hopefully that reveals more, i'm looking forward to it.
Looks like forspoken
@NarutosBiggestFan If is a souls game I'm out. Have much more important things to do in life then spend 10 straight hours of repeat try and die to only advance 5 mins of the story.
@GuyinPA75 Finally someone who gets is! I dont mind a hard boss battle every now and then, but like you said, i dont want to fight one boss for an hour and if i die i have to start back at the beginning and have lost everything I collected up to that point. Only having one healing potion... Its not fun for me.
@NarutosBiggestFan Exactly. I'm not a sadomasochist or hang around people that wear leather masks with zippers for mouths.
I want to play a video to relax and enjoy myself. If I wanted to be annoyed and frustrated and have no hope beyond measure, I'd just go to work.
@themightyant @Kaloudz
A 9 minute episode about combat, lore and the world is coming this Friday! We'll see a deeper dive into gameplay, Focus confirmed on Twitter.
Edit: For those who're asking, it's NOT a souls-like. It's an action/slash RPG style combat with different combos and powers.
@Kaloudz Anytime friend. I'm the go to guy for all things Focus Entertainment lol!
@Kaloudz Let's just say I finished the game three times haha. It's janky without a doubt and the combat is stiff TO SAY THE LEAST, but if you like a dark, dystopian sci-fi story with great characters and choices, I think you should definitely give it a try. Imagine a Bioware style RPG but with half the budget. If you're a fan of romancing companions, you can do that too.
@Kaloudz I am actually lol! My first Focus-published game was also from Spiders. Maybe you've heard of Bound By Flame? Since then, I've played most of their games and I've never regretted any purchase from them. As for my fave, I would definitely go with Greedfall (RPG category). The runner-up is definitely The Surge 2 (the same developer that is working on Atlas Fallen). Story-adventure? A Plague Tale franchise.
@Kaloudz If I remember correctly, it was. It's usually on sale these days, goes for 13 USD, the Gold Edition that includes De Vespe DLC and the next gen upgrade.
Hope you find some time to try both Technomancer and Greedfall!
Another PlayStation exclusive then.
Soz mean advertising rights deal all over the media, looking exclusive.
Maybe minor but with this and other games it all adds up for PlayStation consoles and game sales etc.
Relax, whiney kids, this is not a souls-like at all. Just a completely soulless map cleaning marker-based open world. Fans of Forspoken will love this.
@Novs It's sad you think it's "soulless" or empty like Forspoken. Soulless would ironically describe most Soulslike games that can't even do original marketing beyond copying the trailers for Dark Souls 1 still.
It's amazing some people still get hyped for those poor cash grabs which don't even try anything original.
This developer made two Soulslike games which actually were original. The Surge 1&2 with both even having features Elden Ring later incorporated like ability to perform jump attacks all the time or a counter attack immediately after blocking.
Both games also featured more traditional RPG mechanics with dialogue trees too and direct story telling. The theme was unique too instead of rehashing things like "everybody's undead and you have to choose between light or darkness."
Point is, this developer has a track record of making interesting games with new original themes too. I'm glad they're trying something new with an action RPG. Soulslike are overrated anyway. We need more action RPGs to return to this gameplay style or be like Dragon's Dogma which is infinitely more enjoyable than all the rehashes of Dark Souls 1 From Software and others have put out the last 10 years.
The fact of the matter is something like Dark Souls is easy to do which is why we have like 60+ Soulslike games in the last few years, some with far superior gameplay to the From Software originals (Nioh series being a prime example).
I'm glad Dragon's Dogma 2 is being carefully worked on by Capcom.
@Phornix I meant soulless in a funny way as in "not souls-like", relax mate, this is too big of a discussion for purexbox.
