It's been a little under a month since Microsoft announced Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S console price hikes in Japan, and now the company has increased prices in another region. As spotted by Gaming Deputy, both the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S are now more expensive in Sweden.
Both consoles have gone up in price on the Swedish Microsoft Store, with Xbox Series X now coming in at SEK 6,195 and the Xbox Series S costing SEK 3,895. The previous price points were set at SEK 5,695 and SEK 3,595 respectively.
For now, there's no official confirmation of price hikes in any other European nations. However, Phil Spencer & co. did hint at these sorts of price increases for Xbox a few months back, so there's a chance other regions could follow suit depending on the economic situation.
Sony increased the price of PS5 in most regions outside of the US last year, including the UK and Europe. Microsoft has held out a bit longer, but the Xbox price hikes are starting to appear as we move further into 2023.

Glad I managed to grab a Series X yesterday before the price increases go to other countries
@Retrokingdan gg hf
@Kaloudz closer to 40 for the XSX.... almost 10% Increase.
Roughly same Increase as Sony looking at those numbers in article
Always sad to see prices go up, not down, but as others have suggested it's a drop in the ocean compared to everything else. Cost of everything has gone up, including for manufacturing and distribution.
@Kaloudz SEK 500 is about £40 for the Series X
SEK 300 is about £24 for the Series S
Inflation as a whole is caused by greedy companies seeking record profits when they claim it's a supply issue. Their answer seems to be raise prices more. I guess I'll be saving a lot of money watching these companies begin to panic over losing consumers.
Costs have shot up everywhere and this price adjustment is overdue at this point.
It was perfectly acceptable when Sony did it 6 months back, and perfectly acceptable now that xbox are following.
Its a shame that some people may be 'priced out', but thats hardly an issue when adoption rates and roll outs have been so successful, and it certainly never hurt sony selling anything they can ship, and I suspect it wont hurt xbox sales either.
It's a weird inflection point with the way inflation has rolled out though, where, for business "$550" is now the equivalent of "500" a few years ago, but for the consumer $500 is still the equivalent of $500 a few years ago and generally less available. It will be interesting/frightening to see how consumer spending goes over the next several years. These things operate on a long delay, a reality somehow the analysts still have not figure out. I continue to see video games moving itself up-market, and then people can't seem to figure out why software sales center around 3 games.
Those figures mean nothing to me
@BrilliantBill I mean having a television is "luxury" but there's different tiers of luxury. 4K HDR TV is basically "normal walmart TV" at this point, so I think it's reasonably fair to just say "you need a TV" rather than separating exotic TVs. Pretty much any TV will do. I don't think the cost of the TV itself matters too much in the equation. Virtually everybody has a TV they can run the consoles on already. Whether' it's optimum or not, I'll be fine for it. Even on a 1080p screen an XSX will look great.
Though all of that still doesn't deviate too far from what I was saying. TVs themselves were a source of significant consumer sales drop over the past year. People are spending less, not more, on this sort of thing, and gaming is leaning into... when we say "luxury" lets say the "BMW owning crowd" as a generalization of the tiers. That's not the market gaming used to be in. PC gaming was. Console gaming was for the masses.
And yeah, Series S and GP are kind of the middle ground here, but, it's weird watching this hobby schism, where it used to be basically for the unwashed masses, watching it turn into a yachting club.
Oof. I don't feel as bad for buying the console near launch rather than waiting for the, previously, inevitable price drop.
I really hope that parts shortages in the electronic industry clears up soon. So much cool stuff has gone up in price, or even just straight up isn't made anymore as a $1 chip is now $10 if you can get them at all
