Update (Sat 18th Mar, 2023): We now know of even more games leaving Xbox Game Pass this month, so we've gone ahead and updated the table below with all the confirmed removals from our predictions list so far.
For more information, you can check out the following articles elsewhere on Pure Xbox:
Original story (Sat 4th Feb, 2023): What's leaving Xbox Game Pass in March 2023? Well, Microsoft hasn't confirmed anything just yet, but based on some games that were added to the service this time last year, we can at least make a few predictions ahead of time.
We know that a lot of Xbox users want more advance notice of games leaving Xbox Game Pass, but Microsoft understandably gives us around two weeks right now - and don't forget, publishers sometimes secure late deals with Microsoft to keep their games on Game Pass, even after they've been announced to be leaving!
So, before we take a look at the following list of potential games leaving Xbox Game Pass in March 2023, we want to stress that nothing has been confirmed yet, and this will not be a 100% accurate list by any means. Some of these games might leave, some of these games might stay, and many others might be added to the list.
The most common (but definitely not the only) trend with Xbox Game Pass seems to be that games stick around for one year, so we've gone back to March 2022 to look at the games that were added to Game Pass at the time. That said, we've also added a few games from the March 2021 list as well. Based on those original announcements, here's what we think could potentially leave Xbox Game Pass in March 2023:
Date It Joined Xbox Game Pass | Game | Platform |
March 16, 2021 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 18, 2021 | Empire of Sin | Console, PC, Cloud |
March 25, 2021 | Genesis Noir | Console, PC, Cloud |
March 25, 2021 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 25, 2021 | Yakuza 6: The Song of Life | Console, PC, Cloud |
March 1, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 3, 2022 | Console, PC
March 10, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 10, 2022 | Lawn Mowing Simulator | Xbox One |
March 10, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 10, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 16, 2022 | Tunic | Console, PC, Cloud |
March 16, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 17, 2022 | Shredders | Series X, Series S, PC |
March 17, 2022 | The Dungeon Of Naheulbeuk | Console, Cloud |
March 22, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 22, 2022 | Tainted Grail: Conquest | Console |
March 22, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 24, 2022 | Console, PC, Cloud
March 29, 2022 | Crusader Kings 3 | Series X, Series S |
March 31, 2022 | Weird West | Console, PC, Cloud |
As mentioned previously, there could be plenty of additions to this list, and many of these games might stick around on Xbox Game Pass for even longer, but it seems likely that we'll lose at least some of these in March 2023. Our predictions for the past few months have turned out to be around 50-75% correct.
Of course, we've still got a few games set to leave Xbox Game Pass in February 2023 as well, with six games set to depart on February 15th, and another batch set to be removed on February 28th.
Which of these games do you think will leave Xbox Game Pass in March 2023? Tell us down below.

Guardians of the Galaxy is a fantastic game.
Looks like we're coming to the end of Square Enix RPG franchises on Game Pass.
Oh man, I really need to play Kentucky Route Zero, I've waited way too long.
I recently started my second playthrough for guardians of the galaxy. Playing it with my wife. The game is awesome.
If these news are indeed true i will consider it buying it once there's a discount on it
Great heads up. Need to play Wierd West before its gone.
@Kaloudz The Square Enix approach is so weird that I think there's a chance FFVII Remake could come to a more powerful Switch (doubt the current Switch is powerful enough for a native port) and that Sony was only fully blocking a Xbox release.
@Jenkinss it's a really unique and interesting game, I kinda enjoyed it and hated it equally. I think I should have gone play it with a different mindset. As in not expecting a "real game"
Guardians of the galaxy fantastic game great characters and probably a better story than most marvel films
Hopefully not Yakuza 6 a Guardians. Geez, I need to play both of them.
That was a pretty good month for me last year, I had interest in most of those. I bounced off Guardians and Weird West, but may come back to them and purchase if they stick this time. Kentucky RZ was interesting. I'm almost through Genesis Noir. It isn't really my favorite but I have stayed interested enough, and it seems short enough, to stay through the end
February 31st?? Really???
@Sebatrox
Yeah maybe that. Curse of copy/paste
Still my favourite tool on PC 🖥
Thank godness i took the last 3 months to burn through my Game Pass 'play later' list, this is almost 50% of what it was.
With that said, Guardians, Zero Escape and Empire of Sin were a blast, i highly recommend them if you have the time before deadline. I couldnt click with Weird West, Tunic, Genisis Noir or Young Souls so dropped them after a while. I bought Undertale, Paradise Killer and KRZ on the switch on sale randomly so will check them later.
@Grumblevolcano @Kaloudz Square Enix are mercenaries. There are several Switch exclusive games, several PlayStation exclusives, some like Octopath Traveller that are on every system, even Stadia, but NOT on PlayStation. There’s little rhyme of reason to it all.
The only thing there isn’t is a Square Enix Xbox exclusive, that I could see.
Thanks for the possible list. Some good games on there but thankfully I’ve played all I want to.
@Kaloudz @Skedaddle Oh sure yes, going back there are several, I meant in recent years, I should have been clearer. As you said Rise of the Tomb Raider probably the last, there were a couple of XBO exclusives and there were several more on X360, but not many by comparison.
I had a proper look at their released games (+ SE Europe) and what initially surprised me is there seem to be more Switch exclusives than anything. Thinking about that logically it probably makes good business sense, they are predominantly a Japanese RPG developer, and it's by far the highest selling console in Japan, where that genre is most popular. So titles like Live A Live, Front Mission 2, Front Mission 3, DQ: Treasures, Chocobo GP & Harvestella etc, which all released in the last year, are all currently Switch exclusives.
There are quite a few less PlayStation exclusives than I thought there would be, but they are usually higher profile games hence the column inches. But there have also been several turkeys like Babylon's Fall, Left alive and The Quiet Man in the last 5 years!
@Jenkinss You can play Kentucky Route Zero on mobile if you have Netflix. Because Netflix games is a thing
Guardians of the Galaxy was better than I thought it would be. Everyone needs to play Tunic. The game is spectacular!
Quote of 2023 “too many good games to play”
Weird West is the only one that would pull me off of the games I'm currently playing. Otherwise I have played what I wanted to play out of that selection.
Just completed guardiana of the galaxy and is pretty cool, give it a try guys if you haven't. Undertale is also pretty awesome imo and Tunic is decent as a classic Zelda substitute. All relatively short

How about buying games?
I haven't started GotG yet. I might have to wait to see what happens first. New Super Lucky Tale is the one I should really work on as its nearly beaten.
Oh man, I wanted to love Tunic so bad, but the combat is too cumbersome for me. Not missing it...
If leaving March 15th that mean can play on March 15th? or it already gone on March 15th?
