Although The Last Of Us might not be on Xbox in video game form, you can at least watch the highly popular new TV adaptation as part of HBO Max, TV from Sky and even Microsoft Rewards on your Xbox console right now.
In fact, that seems to be what Xbox boss Phil Spencer has been doing lately, as he admitted during an IGN interview that he thinks the show is "fantastic", commending the various teams for their work on the project:
"Well, it's fantastic. They've done a great job with an adaptation of a fantastic game on the television screen, and kudos to the team, all the teams that worked on it. Obviously, the foundation of that is the work that Naughty Dog did in building the franchise."
"I think it's just a great moment to see the success that they're having with the franchise, and congrats to all of them."
Spencer was also asked in the interview about whether the success of The Last Of Us gives him hope for the second season of the Halo TV show, pointing out that there are differences between the two, but it's definitely an inspiration:
"I think there's some differences there, but I don't think that the point of the question of, 'Hey, Last of Us is out there, setting an incredibly high bar. Should we all aspire to reach that same bar with the work that we do in television?' Absolutely."
"We're always getting inspired by the work around us."
The Head of Xbox talked about various other topics during the discussion which we've highlighted elsewhere on Pure Xbox, including his thoughts on last year's lack of first-party releases and Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
