Head of Xbox Phil Spencer was asked earlier today (as part of an IGN interview) about his thoughts on Microsoft's ongoing attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard, explaining that he remains confident the deal will go through.
In fact, he's even more confident now than he was a year ago! That's due to the fact that he's learned a lot over the past 12 months about how the various regulatory processes work, and he seems grateful for it.
"My confidence remains high. We're actively working with the regulatory boards around the world that need to approve for this, and it's been a learning experience for me."
"I'm more confident now than I was a year ago, simply based on the information I have and the discussions that we've been having."
Spencer also mentioned that it's been 12 months since the acquisition was announced, and the intent was to close the deal by June 2023, so here's hoping we might still see a verdict in that time frame.
Unfortunately, there have been a lot of roadblocks for Microsoft and Activision Blizzard lately, with the US Federal Trade Commission taking the matter to court, and various other regulators also expressing their concerns.
