Lies of P is turning into one of the most highly anticipated 2023 Xbox Game Pass launches, especially as it keeps drawing comparison to FromSoftware's Bloodborne! Thankfully this one is bound for Xbox, and thanks to AMD we've been treated to a bit more footage of the title ahead of launch.
Now, this trailer is of course running on beefier hardware than even Xbox Series X - Microsoft's console wouldn't quite manage 8K resolution we don't think! Either way, this top-spec build does provide us a fresh look at some clean Lies of P gameplay.

Developer Neowiz is absolutely nailing the vibe with this one; Lies of P looks set to feature a suitably atmospheric world for all of us Game Pass fanatics to explore later this year! Here's how the game's story is set to unfold:
"Play as Pinocchio, a puppet mechanoid, and fight through everything in your path to find this mystery person. But don't expect any help along the way and don't make the mistake of trusting anyone. You must always lie to others if you hope to become human."
Lies of P is confirmed for a console Xbox Game Pass launch in 2023, with the team yet to confirm a PC Game Pass release. If it manages to look this good on PC, we hope it comes to Microsoft's service there as well!
Will you be playing this Soulslike on Xbox Game Pass? Let us know in the comments.

Didn't both Microsoft and Sony make false claims of the Series X/PS5 being capable of 8k. Both are liars probably a couple of generations away.
I do have a 8k TV but hate PC so guess it's 4k hopefully at 60FPS. This game looks good but not into souls games but will try it.
@Cyberpsycho both claimed 8k hdr output but safe assumption it applied to media content and not gaming.
@Jaxx420 That's not what they said and did mention gaming. In fact there is no 8k content at all so yes they are both liars.
@Cyberpsycho They claimed the systems could run at 8K and on paper they can. They never said games would be running at 8K.
Although there IS in fact already a game that internally runs at 8K 60 fps on PS5, The Touryst. But it supersamples this down to 4K/60fps as 8K output isn't enabled yet.
But it isn't really a lie. Both systems have HDMI 2.1 and can handle 8K output, there is just no point enabling it in the firmware right now. If TV/Movie/Streaming services enable this in future they might but there isn't really much 8K content, it's forward thinking, it's there in case they need it later.
@themightyant I think The Falconeer may be available to play in 8k too. While it’s not a lie that these consoles can do 8k, it’s a massive overreach and was obviously just put on the box for marketing reasons.
Keeping an eye on lies of P, it looks interesting and will be on Gamepass so might dive into it there.
@Fenbops Respectfully I disagree. Both have HDMI 2.1 and both will happily output content at 8K if enabled, that is why it’s on the box. That doesn’t ever mean they planned 8K gaming.
@Cyberpsycho... They said 8k media support... 8k gaming is years ahead if you ever understand pc specs you will understand how much power a AAA game in 4k needs... Hell my rtx 2070 is crying in 4k resolution and you want 8k gaming on consoles!!! Its even great to see 4k gaming on a console!!! You should be thankful for the time we are in
@Gamingforlife @themightyant well I did a little digging and found this article from last month:

So PS5 at least (not sure about series X) still can’t output 8k video. Yet there it is on the box, 8k. After 2 years and no support, it was obviously put on the box for marketing with little to no regard for ever getting support and let’s be honest who’d buy one of these consoles for 8k content of any type.
@grumpypotato i wasn't excited for 4k... But lets be honest playing 4k in a monitor is not much..... But playing on a tv is a huge thing if you get used to it you wont be able to play on 1080p again
@Moonglow pity none are exclusives. Starfield delayed. Again.
@Fenbops we are aware they haven’t enabled 8K output, no one here has suggested otherwise, the point is the system could if/when it needs to, but there is no need now, there is no 8K content to output.
Don't know much about lies of p but this looks like a complete copy of Bloodborne without the atmosphere or the dodgy frame rate. Not sure what it is but I'm not fully convinced however as it's game pass I'll at least give it a try
@grumpypotato with a big screen +40" you will definitely see alot of deferences... In my 55" a 1080p resulotion is like 360p youtube video on a phone
In 2022 there were 2 major release Pinnochio films, and now this. Is Pinnochio the new zombies? Is everything going to be Pinnochio for a while?
@Gamingforlife you said a very wise sentence: I'm very happy for the time I'm living as a gamer.
