Hogwarts Legacy's much-anticipated launch date is fast approaching, at least on current-gen platforms where the game releases first on February 10th, 2023. Ahead of next month's Xbox Series X and S launch, developer Portkey Games has dropped a bit of info on the game's performance options for those platforms.
As per a new support page update, Hogwarts Legacy is set to have at least two performance mode choices on current-gen consoles. Here's how the team breaks it down:
"The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S console versions of Hogwarts Legacy support multiple graphical modes of play, the most common of which are Fidelity mode which runs at 30 fps, and Performance mode which targets 60 fps."
Unfortunately we don't have any more info than that right now, with the team not yet breaking down how Xbox Series S specs will differ to Xbox Series X. There's potential for even more than these two options as well, given Portkey says these are the "most common" options.
The developer has detailed one other technical feature for next month's current-gen launch though. Hogwarts Legacy will support Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) on release, for compatible displays paired up with Xbox Series X and S.
Which performance mode will you choose? Let us know down below!

Hogwarts Legacy does not exist in a vacuum. There are important discussions being had about the views and opinions held by the creator of the Harry Potter universe – views and opinions which we do not agree with.
Our goal is to create and foster a positive environment for people – all people – to discuss and celebrate video games, not to amplify ignorance or provide a forum for unconstructive arguments. As per our community rules, we do not accept any form of hate speech on our platform.
It sounds like the two Xbox versions will have at least two modes.
They confirmed that the series S has two performance options as well! My guess is 1080/1440p at 30fps, 900-1080p at 60fps. I could be wrong of course. Either way, I'm ecstatic to finally see a developer using the power of the S to its full potential. I'm on the verge of pre-ordering lmao.
@Kaloudz I share the same sentiment but I think we deserve a 60fps option every once in a while. Moving forward, we might not see it as often, but I do hope devs focus a bit more on our lovely console. It deserves way more love.
@Kaloudz I'm with you: my Series S is my next-gen machine, and while I've got no extra funds for a Series X, I'm happy with it!
if series s can run warzone at 120fps fullhd it also should run this new potter game
For Series X I'm guessing it's 4k at 30fps and then probably 1440p at 60fps.
