The more we play of Hi-Fi RUSH, the more we're starting to think it could be the 2023 Xbox Game of the Year. Seriously, it's that good! If you're feeling the same way, you might be interested in a special "upgrade" offer on the Xbox Store.
Basically, there are two versions you can buy of Hi-Fi RUSH, which are the Standard and Deluxe Editions. The latter is typically £39.99 / $39.99, but there's also a special offer if you're an Xbox Game Pass subscriber and just want to buy the Deluxe-specific content. With Xbox Game Pass, this only costs £8.99 / $8.99.

So, what do you get? It's not much, admittedly - most of the extras here are just cosmetics, including two Chai outfits, seven bonus Chai t-shirts, an 808-themed guitar skin, an 808 alternate skin, and 20,000 Gears for unlocking combat skills and other upgrades. We wish there was come campaign DLC as well, but unfortunately not yet!
You can get a look at this content in the tweet below, but keep in mind that the special upgrade version for Xbox Game Pass subscribers doesn't come with the base game.
Hi-Fi RUSH seems to have been a massive success for Xbox already, releasing to rave reviews and already shooting up the charts, including on Steam where it's currently seventh in the Global Top Sellers list. What a great start!

@Kaloudz
Well this game and gamesclike high on life if what keep me playing in my age.... Creativity and new experiences.... Starfield is not out yet and firza maybe the best racing car ever but what made me love gaming ia those games that made my heart race and mind blown with new stuf i never experienced
Sad to see gamers does days only worship IP and what reviewers says
@Kaloudz The game really is that amazing. It isn't that long (11 hours, for some people thats a great length), the story is good, the art style and music are great and the gameplay is fun. You don't even have to be good at rhythm games to be able to play it. When you attack you always hit on the beat but the closer you do it on the beat the more damage you do. I've only done the first 2 missions yet, but this game is just brilliantly made in every way. Addictive and so much fun. As others have said the positive reviews on steam show it for instance
Not knocking the game itself obviously, but the reason why the upgrade is so cheap is because it's just cosmetic items. If it was anything more substantial, it wouldn't be that cheap.
@Kaloudz I haven't played it yet, but I think a fresh new IP like this that does something new is really needed.
Don’t care much about the content but may buy it just as another way to support the devs. They’ve created an amazing game and I want them to know that I’d love to see more games like it. They took a chance and it turned out fantastic.
@EliJapan they like the game and want to experience more content from that world. Or replay with a different skin. Didn’t you ever choose alternate colours for street fighter characters?
Eh, that's a hard pass from me. I'm actually glad it's just a non-essential cosmetic thing rather something meaningful in there that GP players would otherwise miss out on.
The game is utterly fantastic btw.
@EliJapan I’m not talking about paid stuff for street fighter. It was built in. But fair enough. Sounds like you’re not into cosmetics and that’s fine. Some people are (look at Fortnite) and that’s fine too. One doesn’t have to cancel the other out. Gaming is big enough for everyone to be happy.
Bought this upgrade. Holding off on buying the main game because I'm hoping there's a chance we get it on disc in the near future.
I know it’s only January, but this is easily the first true GOTY contender. Honestly, it’s that good, and it’s an exclusive (yes, it is also on PC, but I’m speaking strictly between Nintendo and PlayStation). It really is a special game, particularly because it’s new, fresh, and relatively original.
I’ll definitely buy the deluxe edition for only $9.00. This is not only because I’m a sucker for cosmetics and such, but I want to support the developer. It’s mind blowing to me they went from The Evil Within (I still want a third game), to Ghostwire Tokyo (I can’t wait to play it soon), and then to this which is drastically different. They are a talented team and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
@Kaloudz I expect Spider-Man 2 to take it if it comes out this year aside from the fact that spider-man is an incredibly popular IP it's also being made by insomniac which have been consistently killing it
@Kaloudz honestly it's very good from what I played! very easy to get into while being very fun and honestly the beat matching gimmick is some of the most fun I've had w a game lately... Not comparable to starfiels or FM in the slightest because it's a linear hack and slash platformer though
@EliJapan in the case of a swimsuit in a Bandai game; not sure it’s solely for cosmetics reasons for the opposite gender.
@Gamingforlife reviews don't actually affect sales as much as we think
Who here is old enough to remember what "Hi-Fi" is?
