Last year Bandai Namco revealed that its classic JRPG Tales of Symphonia, which originally launched in 2003 as a Nintendo GameCube exclusive, is finally making its way to Xbox platforms in 2023! Ahead of next month's Xbox debut, the team has dropped a brand-new gameplay trailer.
This is certainly a 'remaster' rather than a 'remake' - Bandai hasn't changed too much about the look of the original game here. Still, it's the first time we'll ever get to play the game on Xbox, so we can't complain too much!
Here's the setup for this classic JRPG, straight from the team:
"In a dying world, legend has it that a Chosen One will one day rise from amongst the people and the land will be reborn. The line between good and evil blurs in this epic adventure where the fate of two interlocked worlds hangs in the balance."
Tales of Symphonia Remastered heads to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S on February 17th, 2023.

I’m pretty pumped about this. My biggest hurdle is whether or not I’ll get it for the Series X or Switch.
@BlackMayge age old question is do you want/need the portability?
@BlackMayge As long as it runs ok older JRPGS like this are better on Switch IMHO. play anywhere and no anal achievement lists. JRPGS are often the worst for that. Finish a 100 hour game and get 135/1000 GS!
Does it run at 60fps, or is it the same 30fps as the Steam release?
Glad to see Symphonia brought up to current consoles, but this is definitely a Switch purchase, and only on sale. I don't buy much 3rd party on Switch, but an old Tales game just feels at home on the system.
@InterceptorAlpha The PS version is 30fps so I assume this and Switch are the same. I don't know what happened to the 60fps GCN original, but it's slightly insulting for a new remaster to release that's worse than the original.
@InterceptorAlpha @NEStalgia they most likely lost the code. Kind of like old FF games are based off their PC code and not the PS code.
sighs it’s not turn based so I really want 60fps as well.
Tales is the defacto JRPG for me once Final Fantasy fell off the map. Looking forward to this one!
Hope to see more RPGs/JRPGs that're on everything but Xbox come to it eventually. Would love to see SMT 3: Nocturne HD & the Digimon games make their ways over.
