Well, that was quick! Less than 24 hours after the game first arrived on Xbox Game Pass, High on Life has just received a day one patch across Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC, targeting some key improvements.
Crucially, this patch is said to offer "improved performance across Xbox One and Xbox Series platforms", and according to the first few players who have tested it so far, it appears to have made a big difference — at least on Xbox Series X|S:
You can see the rest of the bug fixes in the image at the top of this article, focusing on the likes of crashes, accessibility, audio balancing, visual improvements and much more. The download size is around 10GB on Xbox Series X.
It's fair to say the critics have been divided over High on Life so far (including us here at Pure Xbox), with some liking it a lot and others not enjoying it much at all. You can make your own mind up if you're subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, and don't forget to let us know how you get on with this patch in the comments below!

Nice to hear! I've been enjoying the game so far! Can't wait to jump back in later today.
Devs should have communicated that they were aware of this problems. But they answered none and did not acknowledge any fps problem. Not very clever...
Turning the talking down a notch and with this patch I'm really enjoying this.
@grumpypotato I think that simply has a lot to do with the nature of how they submit games before release. Like they probably submitted the game before they were done with the last minute bug fixing and optimizing, seems to be fairly common in the industry these days.
@grumpypotato in my experience, once a developer submits a patch, it needs to pass some amount of QA from the platform holder before it can make it live. How long that takes can fluctuate from the complexity of the patch to how busy the QA team is.
I have never submitted a patch to an xbox (or any console, tbh) game, but have done so in other platforms, including Apple app stores. It is likely they expected this patch to hit by launch day.
I also pre-loaded the game and there was also a patch yesterday, so another possibility is the devs themselves lost track of what patch hit when. Although most systems give developers tools to schedule a date for a patch to hit, that tends to mean "dont publish before this date", never "this needs to go out by this date".
@grumpypotato I cant blame MS at any level for this. This is entirely on the publisher. I'm sure like most, MS has guidance on how long you should expect a patch approval window to take (my guess is a week.)
According to the wiki, the game was published by Squanch Games (the developers of the game.)
I have zero experience with Halo Infinite perk redemption, or even what kind of perks GP offers for it. I do can say that an online portal would allow redeemed perks to sync with Steam copies, although not sure if those even work with Steam copies.
@grumpypotato Even if they wanted to give it any expediated treatment, this is not something you can just push out. The window is not there just to make people wait, its because the patch needs to be tested by human beings, not to see if its good, but to make sure it adheres with a long list of rules. This is not about red tape, this is about quality checks.
The game runs extremely well on Xbox Series S & after the update the frame pacing seems to be fixed. I've noticed the spatial audio is a bit rough but other than that, I'm enjoying the game a LOT more than I had anticipated I would. Happy gaming ✌️
Performance is night and day after the patch, it was a total mess on Series X before it. Surely there was a way for Microsoft and the Publisher to better coordinate the launch to coincide with the day 1 patch, even if it meant delaying the GP release by a few hours.
Microsoft need to get ahead of this in future - imagine the damage if something similar happens around Starfield or Redfall
Only got to play it last night for an hour, when i got home from work, had pre-installed it, but when I wanted to start it, the patch was almost done installing, am an hour in or so, but loving it so far, and yeah i'm a rick and morty fan , so that helps,
But runs smoothly (maybe because of patch and the fact that i have VRR) on my Series X, looking beautiful too, and loved the intro/tutorial, with the retro graphics, and then you get to see the real game, and it's like wow, this looks real good.
But yeah, they should have waited with the launch till the patch was included, there's always one chance at a first impression.
