Yesterday, we highlighted how the new Xbox console exclusive High On Life was dominating the Xbox and PC charts, and it's now been officially crowned the biggest Xbox Game Pass launch of 2022.
Microsoft says this is "measured in terms of engagement, based on the number of hours played in the first five days of release", and those same stats also make it the biggest third-party Xbox Game Pass launch of all time. Better yet, High on Life is the biggest single player-only release in Xbox Game Pass history as well!
Here's what Mike Fridley, Studio Director and COO of developer Squanch Games, had to say about the news:
“This was our first time launching a game with Game Pass, and we’ve been blown away by the response from the players who have made us the most popular game on Game Pass right now. When Squanch Games was first created, it was to make the games we wanted to play – and Game Pass is helping us reach the players that want to play those games too.”
High on Life has been an absolutely massive success for Xbox Game Pass, then, but it's also been doing really well in terms of actual sales, with the game sitting towards to the top of the paid rankings on both Xbox and Steam right now.
Some Xbox fans have been calling on Microsoft to look at acquiring Squanch Games following the immense success of High on Life, and based on these statistics, we wouldn't be surprised if the company was considering it!
