GSC Game World brought us the first Stalker 2 trailer we've seen in a good few months yesterday, showcasing more of the game's huge open world ahead of its Xbox Game Pass launch in 2023.
Shortly after the new trailer dropped, the team also unleashed some super high quality screenshots and we've got to admit, this is looking like one of the most visually impressive games we've seen to date, especially considering its open world nature.
Stalker 2 is running on Epic's latest Unreal Engine 5 technology and, well, you can tell! Here are some brand new screens, straight from the dev team:

This looks more and more better every time they show it off, can't wait to play this next year and is in my top 3 most wanted gamepass games for next year along with atomic heart and starfield.
This last screenshot is nuts to me. After playing Chernobylite and being in many rooms like that, the window bars (not sure what they are really called) is creepy.
Attention to detail
I never played the first, but i am really starting to get behind this second game. It looks incredible and with GP i can’t imagine it would be a waste of time. Really hope i like it cause it look outstanding, maybe they will fix up the first game and bring the whole series to GP and Xbox.
@Sebatrox I believe it's the site's compression when uploaded on our end. The source images are 3840x2160.
Again, I cannot really get excited over stuff like this as it will likely look rather different on Xbox. And the performance hasn't been revealed yet has it? I am assuming we will get a 30fps mode that still looks slightly inferior to this, and maybe a 60fps mode that looks greatly inferior. Look at how Cyberpunk looks on Xbox compared to max settings on a 4090. I hope I'm wrong!
@Spaceman-Spiff Are you really comparing a game running on a $1600 GPU to a $500 console? Concessions need to be made.
Max settings on Cyberpunk has a significant amount of RT. And even still, getting that to run at 60fps requires DLSS and a beefy machine. It’s not something that is possible on $500.
I am sure this game will still look and run fantastic on the Series X|S. It will probably have lower lighting and shadow quality, shorter draw distances, and utilize FSR 2.x; but UE5 is still a gorgeous engine.
Metro Exodus was able to achieve 60fps with RT enabled (albeit not nearly as much as PC). Sure resolution took a hit, but it’s still a gorgeous game.
Microsoft has it’s hand in helping with the development of UE5 (via The Coalition) and it seems there is a lot of optimization around Xbox hardware (and DirectX 12) thanks to their efforts.
Sony may very well be, too; but since its studios seem to prefer proprietary engines, it doesn’t seem to be as widely reported.
Bottom line, I don’t see the “downgrade” to consoles be super drastic. Noticeable compared to a 4090 powerhouse; but not disappointing in the least.
@GamingFan4Lyf No it's not that I expect a Series X game to look as good as a maxed out PC game, but I just wish that a) promotional materials like screenshots and trailers were produced separately for the console versions and b) that more games were designed with the console as the lead platform. It's no coincidence that Digital Foundry's best graphics of the year winner Horizon Forbidden West looks so good on console - it's because it was designed specifically for the PS5 hardware. Rather than the standard situation on Xbox where the game is designed for PC then heavily compromised for console. Those compromises can always be seen far more on a game that's been scaled back, compared to one that's been designed to be the best it can be on lower end hardware. For an extreme example of this just look at some of the 'impossible' Switch ports - they invariably look far worse than the Zeldas and Marios that were built specifically for the console. For me it's the same story, just to lesser extent, for Cyberpunk on Xbox. It looks compromised.
@Spaceman-Spiff Fair enough, I can agree to that. I think that will always be the case on Xbox - the whole core principle of the console was always to easily develop for both console and PC at the same time.
Very stoked for this game!
I cannot wait to see this game get a release date so I can get extremely hyped!
Looks decent.
