Thinking of picking up the new Dead Space remake? The first gameplay trailer dropped earlier today, and it's shaping up to be a stunner when it arrives on January 27th, 2023. Plus, there's some good news for Game Pass members!
Although the game is being priced at an eye-watering £69.99 / $69.99 for Xbox Series X and Series S, anyone who is subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate can get a 10% discount via EA Play, bringing it down to £62.99 / $62.99.
Don't forget that you can always use your Microsoft Rewards points to bring the cost down further, and if you're willing to be extra patient, the game will likely be added to EA Play around a year after its launch - so probably in 2024.
For those who aren't fussed about cost, Limited Run Games is also selling an elaborate Collector's Edition of Dead Space for Xbox at the price of $274.99, complete with a full-size wearable Isaac helmet! Sounds tempting to us...

Waiting for that sweet sweet EA play vault date. #TeamCheapSkate
there's even cheaper option: gotta be patient & wait for 1 year it will be free on EA Play
Or Play it on EA Play. Waste of money buying a dead Space Remake especially with Callisto Protocol coming out
Or just buy a Turkish or Greek cd key and activate via a VPN on the Microsoft redemption site. As in literally buy from a reputable provider there and boom, done. I’ve just got COD and that cost me 38 pounds and something pence. Instead of £69.
No brainer really in this economy.
But of course, also likely to head to GamePass/EA Play as already mentioned above for this particular title.
I’ll give the remake a go, but the originals I still have such fond memories of, so I’m not sure I’ll find much of a desire to push forward, I will try though!
That seals it. I'm sticking to the original and I'll play it on Game Pass a year after launch.
Spencer be praised!
Calisto protocol thats the one for me
I'll get it on discount. Not paying $70 for this game.
@J_Mo_Money Me too!
I’ll get on ea play when it will be there, with all the games available on game pass it’s hard for me to understand the need to buy games when you know they will eventually be on game pass.
@Dr_Luigi Most 3rd party games for the SNES were $70+ dollars, and that's in early '90s money. You were also much more likely to get an unplayable piece of shovelware that was essentially unbeatable without cheats. Count your blessings.
@Kaloudz Dead Space was a top 5 game for me in the 360 era too. I LOVED Dead Space, but I've been blessed with the ability to negate FOMO, it simply doesn't really effect me. I'll wait and enjoy the hell out of it at a significantly reduced price of Free99.
Wonder if there’s any chance of a 10-hour trial for this? Probably not…
Its gonna have to justify its price for that much. I get this is more like Resident Evil 2's remake where its not a direct 1:1 recreation, adding in stuff that was cut or just unworkable on 360 so it has that in its favour.
I think we should give The Calisto Protocol a look first, since that's a brand new IP and from the original Dead Space Developers.
@J_Mo_Money Waiting will often times provide a better experience anyway. People told me I was crazy, or just said I must be poor, when I said I'd wait for the complete/goty edition before the launch of Cyberpunk (goty edition seems laughable in hindsight). I did it with Witcher 3 and it was great. Nowadays waiting is often the best option imo, especially considering I don't play multiplayer outside of the occasional co-op campaign.
Just like I'm waiting for Dying Light 2. I know techland is going to support the game for several years and improve it along the way. I have no problem waiting for it to achieve it's final form.
or you can go play the ORIGINAL on ea play like right now
Like the TLoU remake I have no idea why EA are doing this when the original is available on modern platforms and still holds up very well today. That price is just another reason to stay away.
$70 for a remake? Lolno.
When get this at bargain bin prince. Like I do for any game that is launched at $70.
I'll boycott any $70 game. They'll learn one way or another.
@CunningPig True. When the obvious bugs/fixes and technical "ironing out" period ends the game is better for it. Even if that weren't the case, i very rarely ever paid $60 for games little-own will pay $70. The most i pay is $50 now but usually i wait for holiday type sales so around $30 or less.
In the 90s and early 2000s that would have been hard since releases were so few and far between you'd have to wait forever to play games but now with the absolute wealth of content on seemingly a weekly basis it makes it easier to play other things and wait for that reduction.
It is absolutely mental that EA are changing £70 for this remake. Yes it looks so much better but when you can play the original, which still holds up well to this day imo, right now on Game Pass/EA Play for the price of nothing then there’s no justification for that price. I certainly can’t justify even spending all my Microsoft Reward points on this, I’d much rather get Hogwarts Legacy the following month.
I'll rather get the physical than to just save a measly 10%
This site was using a link to the £90 version of fifa 23 the other day lol I won't be getting this regardless as I don't have a next gen console I'll be getting Callisto protocol for £42.95 though👌🏻
With physical, the price will be down a bit quite quickly probably. The longer you wait, the cheaper it'll get (with certain caveats obviously).
So ultimately, don't get a digital only console is my solid advice, heh.
Since this is a strictly single player game I’ve no issues with waiting for either a significant price drop, or it to eventually land on EA Play.
I don’t wait as long for multiplayer games as the number of players for games can drop off quickly after launch (not that I buy many multiplayer game if I’m being honest).
I’ve 100% the original Dead Space anyway, which must have taken about five play-throughs, so no made rush for the remake.
It does look pretty terrifying though.
@RangoTel Dead Space isn't available on either the PS4 or PS5... The majority of gamers can't not play the original, so that basically answers your questions.
I wanted to get the Collectors Edition, but once taxes and delivery to the UK was added, the total came to around £350. Unfortunately, I cannot justify the amount. So very tempted though. It is very frustrating that these kind of Collector's Editions aren't available in the UK without having to import them at extortionate rates...
