Update (Wed 5th Oct, 2022): The new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S upgrade for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot has now been confirmed as arriving on January 13, 2023, and it will include "enhanced graphics and 60FPS".
You can check out the brand-new release date trailer above!
Original story (Sat 17th Sep, 2022): At this week's Tokyo Game Show, Bandai Namco announced Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot would be coming to the Xbox Series X|S in 2023. This "new-gen" version will be a free upgrade for existing Xbox One owners and will come with improved graphics and performance. Here's a look (via Gematsu):
In addition to this, it's been revealed the game is getting a fourth DLC as well as Season Pass 2. Both are scheduled for 2023 alongside the next-generation versions of the game.
The new DLC is Bardock: Alone Against Fate - a story about Goku's Saiyan father Bardock protecting his home planet against Lord Frieza:
"Bardock: Alone Against Fate is the new DLC that will allow players to impersonate the brave Saiyan that valiantly fought alone to protect the Saiyans’ home planet from the cruelty of Lord Frieza."

Holy hell. Seriously? I hope this brings 60fps or higher to the game. That was really my only drawback. May be doing a replay if so.
Edit: Yep, another source stated it includes 60fps, so I reckon I'll be going through it. And finally do all the DLC. Will have to pick up the new DLC as well.
Now if only Xenoverse 2 could get a resolution bump.
Always been tempted to try this game but never got around to it. I heard that it can become a bit of a chore levelling up?
@Rockboy247 Can't say I ever had this issue. I just played the game and did the side quests and never felt like I was grinding. Grinding is a huge turn off to me too.
@InterceptorAlpha cheers, will try and check it out. Need to decide on either Xbox or steam deck though!
@Rockboy247
If 60fps means anything to you, Xbox or wait. As of this point nothing has been announced for PC. PC is locked to 30fps and unlocking it makes multiple fights unwinnable due to the physics being tied to the frame rate. As we all know the only thing that gets less mainstream Japanese support than Xbox, is PC.
Seeing this, I hope we see the following next-gen upgrades from Xbox:
Basically, they should just enhance all the Xbox-published titles during the Xbox One era. Seems like a no-brainer to me, but I suppose a lot of these depend on the developers rather than Microsoft...
Later than I hoped, but I'm here for it still.
This is also a good example of how to use a game. They have a nice, solid, base, and instead of releasing a Kakarot 2, they just update this, and pump out more DLC.
All while still letting you play previous content unlike "Games as a Service", which would be the closest comparison.
Is the game a good way to experience the DBZ story for the first time?
Hell yes! One of my top 3 games from last gen and the Dragon Ball Z game I always wanted, and I've been waiting for the next gen patch ever since. One of only a few games I have 100 percented front to back, and can't WAIT to jump in again. Day 1, I'm there!
@Rockboy247 It isn't much of a grind since you can get things called "sacred waters" ect that give you instant experience and can level you up quickly in seconds. You still need to get them, but you can jump up levels in a hurry if you use those.
How is this game?
@Dusk_Actual I would say no since the game can get boring sometimes.
