Xbox has confirmed its plans for the new Xbox Game Pass family subscription, at least in the two regions where the plan is currently available. As rumoured, 'Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family' costs €21.99 a month in Ireland, and 49,900 COP per month in Colombia.
In addition to confirmation on pricing, the sub is now available to all Xbox users in the two regions, following its limited testing phase. The subscription plan allows five 'Friends & Family' members to enjoy all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate benefits, which of course includes Xbox Live Gold access.
Microsoft has also shared information on how current, standard GPU subs will convert to the family plan option. One month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is worth 18 days of Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family, and any existing membership will be converted as such. Xbox has also confirmed that if you switch back to a single sub after being a family sub member, your time won't be converted back, in the other direction.
For now, Ireland and Colombia remain the only two regions where Xbox Game Pass Friends & Family is available, and members can't be added from other regions. Still, Microsoft says "future countries might be added in the next months", so we'd expect to see this new plan start rolling out to more regions soon. I just converted my gold to GPU for £1, and that lasts til the middle of next year. So here's hoping that the UK get's the F&F plan before then lol.
Currently I'm thinking of getting me, my partner, my eldest son, and my nephews on the plan. Would make them all very happy (especially if/when COD gets included).
@Richnj Right. My partner only plays CoD so that will be nice once CoD comes to game pass. It will also be great for my son who likes to play the game pass games on his account but is unable too If I am playing a game on my Series X.
I might upgrade when Call of Duty games get added. My younger sibling does not have GP, so I can add them to my account, alongside a couple friends while at it. These are people that were likely never going to subscribe to GP, and MS will end up getting $10 more out of me every month on their behalf.
Probably going to be too expensive for me. i have 2 GPU Subscriptions shared over 4 xbox.
I wonder if it works like the share feature you'll be able to get 5 consoles with all the acoounts on those consoles playing GamePass games.
Anyone heard any rumors of US cost? I read $25 monthly somewhere, but I don't know how reliable that information is.
Youtrash, that's a no on that, from Windows central..
Perhaps somewhat obviously, Microsoft has confirmed that secondary users attached to your Xbox Game Pass Family Plan will not be entitled to share access to their Xbox Game Pass access beyond their own account. This is to prevent a daisy chain effect where users could simply share and share again access to Xbox Game Pass, undermining the economic viability of the service.
However, you will still be able to share your primary account's Xbox Game Pass access using the dual-entitlement system, where you sign in to a second Xbox using your cloud login, while keeping another Xbox as your permanent "home" login. In effect, this essentially gives you an additional license to share with a friend as a result, making the possible access total hit 6 users.
