Ubisoft has announced today that the upcoming Skull & Bones, which was supposed to be releasing this November on Xbox (and various other platforms), is now being pushed back to March 9th, 2023.
In a statement, the company explained that more time was required for "polishing and balancing":
"Ahoy there, privateers. Our team is hard at work polishing and balancing the experience ahead of the worldwide launch. As a result, we’ve made the tough decision to move our release date to March 9, 2023.
We’re very eager for you all to get your hands on Skull and Bones and dive in headfirst to the dangerous and exciting world of building your own pirate empire. To give you the best possible experience we’ve decided to take a little more time to make sure we can deliver exactly that."
In a bit of good news, it's been confirmed that Skull & Bones will at least be getting an Open Beta in the near future, with sign-ups set to begin soon - Ubisoft says to "keep your spyglasses trained on our social media" for details.

Maybe they'll reconsider that laughable price as well.
this just makes me want to play Sea of Thieves more
And we care 😂😂😂
Actually I like assassins creed but apart from a really Rayman platformer not to bothered.
Actually we could do with a top end platformer, wish they had made a Rayman one.
After the ho-hum Watch Dogs Legions, the great story but repetitive gameplay of AC Valhalla, and a polished and expanded turd of Far-Cry 6…me thinks I’ll shiver me Timbers and treasure to another publisher for the time being
When I saw this headline today on Kinda Funny's Youtube channel headline, I just started laughing my ass off and couldnt help but think, "of course this is getting delayed again!". I am surprised I didnt see this coming. But I guess since it has been already delayed for so damn long, I thought the game would have been ready to go by now.
I am guessing the preorders were super low so they decided everyone else in the industry was right, and launching this ***** the day before GOW Ragnarok probably was a horrible idea.
Contract satisfied with Portugal via vertical slice and release date announcement, now behold, the never ending delay cometh. Eta 2024. What a total catastrophe.
@Stoned_Patrol there was no intention of this ever seeing the light of day in 22. This entire release is a joke.
This game has every red flag for a video game. Really think it will be terrible failure.
When will Microsoft stop mismanaging their studios?!?
Sorry to hear this I like Ubisoft games and if it’s anything like ac black flag it will be a fine game.
@Tharsman You do know that Ubisoft isn’t owned by Microsoft, right?
@Waluigi-Donut you almost got the joke? Nah, I am sure you did get the joke and are just pulling my leg now.
I was honestly considering potentially getting the game, but that delay essentially kills any chance the game would’ve had for me to purchase it. That first half of the year release schedule for is simply too thick next year with Fire Emblem, Forspoken, Hogwarts, the Kirby remaster, and Zelda, among who knows what else (hopefully Starfield) to justify the game’s purchase. The big games will likely already be competing for time. Still fully intending on getting Mirage though.
@Tharsman I don’t get the joke
@TUCKABAGZ can't believe I have to explain this one but here:
Games get delayed all the time, even PlayStation developed games been getting tons of delays since the launch of this gen.
No one bats an eye on those delays. Its always "of course" or "whatever its needed" or what not.
But when XBox happens to own the studio, suddenly "Microsoft is garbage at management". So might as well blame Microsoft/XBox Games Studios for every single delay in the industry, it makes as much sense as what is going on already.
