[Update: Sept 8] In an ironic turn of events, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that owners of the Cyberpunk 2077 limited edition Xbox One X console, pictured above, will get a refund for the promise of including DLC in the package. Owners will "receive a reimbursement" as Microsoft Store credit, now that said DLC is no longer arriving on Xbox One.
[Original Story: Sept 6] Bad news if you're still playing Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox One (or PS4), as CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the last-gen versions of the game will no longer be receiving major updates after the upcoming Patch 1.6.
This was confirmed in an official Night Wire stream earlier today:
"There's going to be some smaller updates, primarily focused on tech support to keep it all running smooth, but all new future features and content [will be] on current-gen consoles as well as PC."
This means that the new expansion, 'Phantom Liberty', will be limited to Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S if you want to play on an Xbox console. The same goes for PlayStation with the PS5 over the PS4.
Don't forget that Cyberpunk 2077 is Smart Delivery compatible on Xbox though, so if you do decide to buy an Xbox Series X or Series S soon, your access to the game and save file will carry over to the new console seamlessly.
Disappointed about this, or is it for the best? Give us your thoughts in the comments below.

Should of scrapped them to begin with.
With the new 60fps mode Series S is looking like a smart investment
I'll be glad when ALL the developers dump last gen consoles. It's time to move on. It's not called NEXT GEN for nothing.
Don't get me wrong it dose suck for those still on last gen BUT it is for the best, it dose appear trying to have it run on XB1 and PS4 was causing a bunch of problems, and at least it supports smart delivery so its not like the last gen owners will have to buy the core game again when they get a next gen system.
@Darylb88 Series S has a 60fps mode? I split my playtime between Series X & Series S and as far as I'm aware, Series S is only 30fps?
Pretty sure they gave up on it before it was even released.
They were fools to think they could run this game on such weak consoles. Cross-gen new games are a terrible idea. Games that were natively built last gen can go current gen, but the other way around has proven to be a disaster and is a main reason Halo Infinite is struggling too.
Finally we are stating to ditch last generation and about time to.
2023 should be good for us new generation owners but let’s hope the developers show us this in their games.
Redfall
Starfield
Forza
All slated for 2023 by June 2023 and all new generation only.
It'd be nice to think that the industry at large will learn from this whole ordeal. I guess we'll see in around 5 or 6 years.
Not surprised they are leaving last gen behind. I know those who haven’t moved onto them he current gen will be disappointed. There’s still many out there who haven’t found the new systems yet, but it’s only a matter of time before other studios start ditching last gen as well. In the end, it’s for the best.
They should have done this from the beginning. As should have a lot of games.
Makes sense. The game always ran great on the One X, easily the best console for the game lest gen, but that said after the Series X patch I've had it on my Series X and there is no going back. Makes no sense to really be plugging away at those older platforms anymore anyways. I feel like my Xbox One library is said and done for, don't even want to be updating anything on that anymore.
Cant wait until ALL games ditch the old generation. I loved Cyberpunk on my Series X. Had some issues here and there, but nothing huge. Cant wait to play the DLC for this as well!
Still looks like some pretty significant updates are on the way, so I’m glad I haven’t played this game yet.
Even tho it ran great on One X. Such panzies.
All I can say is upgrade to Series X/S, you won't regret it.
@SmoothlyRough I've gotta agree with you here. It almost feels like the Next Gen hasn't truly started yet.
@palahniukslaughter it got a 60fps mode with the new update. Runs at like 800p drs though
@SmoothlyRough the switch is technically current gen despite it being less powerful than Xbox one & PS4 because there isn't a newer Nintendo console
@Trmn8r it's not a main reason for halo infinite struggling at all
@Markatron84 Heh it would be nice to think CDPR learn from this at least…
@Would_you_kindly Lol K. You convinced me. Very compelling argument...
Hopefully developers realize that next gen happened and that xbox one is last gen. So supporting it for sake of milking money and putting out inferior product due to the greed is over. As it should be!
While some blame the last gen consoles, I blame CDPR for making such an overly ambitious game and believing that it could work on 8 year old systems at the time of release
@Banjo- I upgraded from 1X to Series S. More of a side grade honestly. To this day there's only one game currently exclusive that I wanted. Being Flight Simulator. I do miss the 4k graphics tho.
@Krysus The Xbox One X is an excellent console, absolutely the best of last generation. Someday, you will upgrade to Series X or its successor and get 4K back 😁.
@palahniukslaughter Got updated this week.
I bought the game on PS4 but didn't get into it. I didn't have an xbox at the time. I kinda regret buying it.
