After a period away from the limelight, CD Projekt Red came out all guns blazing last night with a bunch of Cyberpunk 2077 news. Announced during the team's Night City Wire livestream, last-gen consoles are being dropped after update 1.6, Xbox Series S has received a new 60 FPS mode, and finally, the team showcased a teaser for its upcoming 'Phantom Liberty' expansion. As it turns out, that expansion will likely be the game's only major add-on.
As spotted by Polish site XGP, CD Projekt dipped into the trailer's YouTube comments to respond to a query about the future of Cyberpunk 2077 DLC. There, the team all-but-confirmed that Phantom Liberty is the one and only expansion for its futuristic RPG.
The game is expected to receive other updates, such as the planned overhauls to the game's police and vehicle combat systems, but another expansion after Phantom Liberty looks unlikely. This has thought to have been the case for a while, as the team began referring to just one expansion around the time Cyberpunk 2077's next-gen upgrade arrived.
What do you make of this news? Disappointed in just one major expansion? Let us know in the comments!

Unless the expansion sell a lot and they make a lot of money
Nothing can save this trash
@Carck I loved this game and had almost zero bugs and issues with it. It was a great game! Hope they make more of these!!!
@OliverOwen
+1. Wish I could downvote trash comments on here and Push Square, but thumbs down does little and does not even show up on the site.
@gollumb82 @OliverOwen My experience too, what makes the "trash" comments weirder is that even after the refunds it was still CD Reds most successful game.
Then again this is the internet and there is evident little room for anything betweren epic and trash.
So all that talk they did about having all these expansions and a growing story was BS. Well that was of course before the game launched… nice to see instead of fixing their mess they’ve been busy making cartoons for Netflix too.
@abe_hikura
Preach brother! Seriously, though, I agree with you 100%. We live in the times when if a game scores below 8 it's trash, metacritic junkies and vitriol peddlers because game X didn't meet their lofty expectations. A game is either a spectacular success or an utter failure. Reviews have a lot to do with that, too. Alien: Isolation comes to mind and even A Plague Tale, which almost never got a sequel because the first one was called The Rats of Us and basically bashed as a poor copy.
Multiplayer?…
@gollumb82 the trash comments, such as mine, exist because a lot of people, like myself, played the game and think it's trash.
I am not aware of what the score or consensus around Cyberpunk is at the moment. But i played the game as soon as the Series X version hit. And my appreciation of it after about 10 hours is that it is a terrible game. Failing at the most basic of its ambitions.
But do go on about how my opinion shouldn't be valid.
Maybe you have some justification as for why one of the most expensive games ever can't even convey ambiance and tone as well as games from 15 years ago. I didn't. It's trash, get over it
@Carck
I think it's funny you feel the need to call the game trash and then tell me to get over it. Trash to me means a game I would give a score of 1-4 on a scale to 10. Whatever you think about Cyberpunk 2077 I don't believe it's that bad objectively speaking based on the reviews it got. It's not about your right to an opinion. It's about the language to describe your lack of enjoyment and that lack of a middle ground between a great game and utter crap.
I bought this game since mid 2021 and I've been postponing playing it because they always announce some other feature. Now I'll wait until the police and vehicle combat rework.
I've gone back into now there's the 60fps update on the S and enjoying it, I hope this dlc is big enough to warrant there only being one.
@gollumb82 i’ll spell it out: to me this game is utter crap.
I understand there’s good, bad, and everything in between. I’ve been playing games for 25 years. This is a bad one.
I don’t know what else to say. The game could have glowing 10/10 reviews for all i care. I played it and thought it was garbage.
Not necessarily at a technical level, but at a conceptual one. It fails to deliver on everything itself promises when playing it. The game mechanics are stale. The dialogue is a cringefest with terrible delivery. And most importantly, it doesn’t feel right. Any of it. I’d rather play anything else
Again, this is my personal opinion. If you enjoy it that’s fine. But to dismiss any and all bad opinions online as trolling is some sort of joke. Bad games exist
@Carck
Fine. It's your opinion and I see no point in discussing it further. I've played games since 1991 so I've had my fair share of stinkers and I think this one is far from that. Still, thanks for staying civil and giving valid points.
@gollumb82 always a pleasure having a civil discussion about something we love, even if we may disagree
It’s time for Deus Ex. A superior cyberpunk world full of conspiracy and intrigue. Embracer Group should prioritise it.
@Kaloudz
I have to wonder if they are anxious to switch over to Unreal 5 as well.
@CaptainCluck
I'm so ready for more Deus Ex.
Still more than GTA5 though!!!
