Microsoft has revealed the next set of games to be removed from Xbox Game Pass in the middle part of September, and it's once again another pretty huge batch, with 11 games seemingly included in all!
We say seemingly, because Microsoft hasn't formally provided dates for these yet. As soon as we have more information on removal dates, we'll update the table. In the meantime, you'll notice a "?" next to the presumed dates.
(Update: The dates have now all been confirmed as September 15th - as we'd expected!).
Here's the full list of games set to leave in the middle part of September:
Date | Game | Platform |
September 15 | A Plague Tale: Innocence | Console, PC |
September 15 | Aragami 2 | Console, PC |
September 15 | Bug Fables: The Everlasting Sapling | Console, PC |
September 15 | Craftopia | Console, PC |
September 15 | Final Fantasy XIII | Console, PC |
September 15 | Flynn: Son of Crimson | Console, PC |
September 15 | I Am Fish | Console, PC |
September 15 | Lost Words: Beyond The Page | Console, PC |
September 15 | Mighty Goose | Console, PC |
September 15 | SkateBIRD | Console, PC |
September 15 | The Artful Escape | Console, PC |
As always, Xbox Game Pass members can get a discount of (at least) 20% on these titles before they're removed.

Glad I finally got round to the artful escape. A short but completely mad fever dream of a “game”. Lacking much gameplay though. Would still recommend
@themightyant I've meant to try it for ages but never got round to it guess I've got an incentive now! I've also been hoping to play plague tale before the sequel but I'm lucky in that got given away with ps plus some time ago.
@themightyant @R1spam I really had to push through the Artful Escape - visually very colourful and pleasing but yea lacking gameplay and I just didn’t enjoy it that much.
Would highly recommend a Plague Tale. I wasn’t feeling the idea of it but wow I was really blown away by the voice acting and atmosphere. If you can play it through now then you can be ready for the sequel that is also headed to Gamepass.
Got 1000gs in A Plague’s Tale, Artful Escape and… Skatebird. So not too bothered about these games heading off.
@R1spam I think Artful Escape is on Ps++ (Extra) I believe too if you dont get time and have that
Plague Tale definitely worth a play
Wow, that's 21 games leaving over the space of a month. Some of them big hitters too. I've been subbed to GP for a while but my sub is due to lapse next month. At this rate I may leave it a while before resubbing.
All that said, I need to get round to playing A Plague Tale before it leaves.
Oh no SkateBIRD, whatever will we do.
It's a big list but I have played what I want from it.
Hmmm not good. More games are leaving the service than coming in...
Have we hit the point of peak Game Pass already? The quality of games going to the ones replacing them is a little alarming.
I was always under the impression that MS owned Asobo. Is that not the case?
@themightyant Could not agree more. Not sure there's a lot of 'game' in it, but what there is is fantastic and its a trip I'll always remember. I love the art direction and style.
If anyone doesn't get to play it on GP before it goes, its also on PSN extra if you have access to that..
A real shame when it comes down to Plague Tale, it's my fault though because it's been on Game Pass for months and I never got round to playing it.
@pip_muzz I betvthe number will remain around the 400+ games, growing some month's and getting lighter in others. Cannot agree with the quality of the latest entries as I liked them quite a lot (not so much if you rely on the service for day one AAA releases)
Man if we don't get Deathloop this is gonna be tough
@pip_muzz You mean quality like Immortality, which is one of the highest rated games of the year on any system (92 Open Critic) and the well reviewed Tinykin (83)? There’s plenty of good games replacing the ones that have been leaving.
Wanted to play ffxiii but not enough time 2 weeks for me to finish this game.🥲
@awp69 Immortality is super so far granted. I'm not saying every game coming is poor. But classics like Hades, Plague Tale, Bug Fables etc... Seem to be replaced with simulator after simulator after simulator.
It's not that good games aren't still coming. I loved Two Point Campus for example. But more good games are leaving than coming in is my point.
Dang. Must finish Flynn: Son of Crimson before then. Enjoying that one quite a bit.
Yikes, I better tighten up and finish A Plague Tale! I might have to put XC3 on hold for a short while so I can get it done.
Gotta finish bug fables asap then
@BRT15 they actually don't. I thought so too and had to look it up. Asobo is independent still it be seems.
I suspect I won't finish Plague Tale in time as on Immortality and Powerwash Simulator at the moment and still got a huge backlog including As Dusk Falls.
I'm thinking with all these leaving recently it was probably thought they'd have quite a few big first party games this holiday season (Deathloop, Starfield and Redfall) so it wasn't so much an issue - now hoping some of the bigger ones they'll try and re-contract...
@Snake_V5 I’m in the same boat. Just started Plague ahead of the sequel arriving. It’s fun (in a bleak way) and not really a game to rush through. Using a guide ruins the experience. I guess I’ll get as far as I can before it’s removed.
Lost words is great
Come on. Bug Fables and Skate Bird we’re next in my to-play list. Too many good games have been leaving recently and it’s starting to make my gamepass feel kinda worthless for my needs.
Don’t sleep on Bug Fables before it leaves. Fantastic little RPG.
In a perfect world, MS would have been putting out day-one AAA games frequently on the service (as promised). That would have filled in the gaps and made these departures sting less. But lately it just seems like more great games are leaving than coming. I'm not even using Gamepass lately, just playing games I own.
My subscription expires in 3 days. I will renew if next month when a Plague Tale Requiem comes out. Until then going to playing some 360 games I picked up including Split Second Velocity, Bayonetta and Rayman Origins
Damn, gotta play Plague Tale.
I need to finish Artful Escape this weekend then yikes.
Damn I hate this revolving door of content. Not just on Game Pass, but streaming services in general. I was watching a TV series on Amazon, and then last night they took it off the service.
You never know whether the game, show, album, etc. you like will be gone tomorrow.
Y'all do know you can just buy the games you wanna play right?
Well, on a bright side, it can only get better. Been tough couple of months for GP.
If I was paying 15$ a month I would be pissed (and cancelled).
I’ve been waiting for FFXIII to leave as I’ve simply not had a chance to play it. Knew it was coming. Will pick up a physical copy as I definitely want to get to it.
How is Deathloop not coming this fall? Xbox needs it!
@Trmn8r How do you know it’s not coming? They haven’t announced all the September GamePass games yet. And exclusivity doesn’t end until 9/14.
@awp69 I would think they would've announced it at e3 or gamescom given that the game is a big hitter.
@BRT15 No they don't own Asobo but they do have an incredibly close relationship with Microsoft, as demonstrated by not only Plague Tale Requiem coming to Game Pass Day 1, but also but the fact ( and this probably gets missed a lot) that Asobo's CEO takes part in every single Microsoft Flight Simulator press conference and development update.
That might seem insignificant but if you watch him at those events you can see how close the relationship is between the two companies. I can pretty much guarantee that were Asobo ever to get into financial difficulties that Microsoft would be the first company they'd look to for assistance, by either offering a stake in the company or a complete takeover.
I've played pretty much all of these games so no big loss for me.
A Plague Tale Innocence is clearly the biggest loss but it has been on Game Pass for a very long time (over 2 and a half years at this point), so if you've not played it yet you probably weren't that interested in it to begin with.
I might buy Craftopia but not on console.
@K1LLEGAL I thoughtSkateBird was going to be way better than it was. I'm actually a skateboarder and love all of the other skate games. SkateBird was just not doing it for me and I have tried quite a few times
@Stoned_Patrol oh it’s absolutely terrible. But I pushed through and just kind of ended up somehow enjoying it for what it was. Wouldn’t recommend it to anyone though haha
@Trmn8r I think they can't confirm it because of the exclusivity contract sony has. So it should be a surprise drop. Or it won't drop at all.
@Cherip-the-Ripper I mean, it's gonna drop, it's just a matter of when it does.
I'd been holding off on Plague Tale for a while. This gave me the proverbial kick up the rear to get it done. Luckily it is a fairly short game. At least it will be fresh in my memory for the sequel soon.
@Trmn8r I broke down and bought it for PC last year. Great game, fun story unravelling and entertaining voice work.
You can turn off human Juliana's, but I think it is more fun to leave them on, especially in the beginning. Maybe go offline in the middle when you need insurance that you'll keep your items and make progress. Human Juli makes for some tense moments.
Still haven't played as Juliana. Plan to do that soon.
A Plague Tale Innocence has very clunky and rough gameplay but it's interesting. The Artful Escape has a few good moments but, like most "indie" games, it's not as good as it seems. I haven't played the others but Skate Bird is rubbish according to most people. Final Fantasy XIII is a classic. I normally buy the FF games anyway.
I keep getting a message from the Xbox Game Pass app that slime rancher is leaving however it's not on this list nor on the list on Xbox. Can someone confirm?
