If you're part of the Alpha Skip-Ahead ring of the Xbox Insider program, you may have noticed over the weekend that you received a brand-new 'My Games & Apps' screen on your console, and that's because it's getting a revamp!
Microsoft says this is a "new full library experience", with the intention to "streamline access to all of the games you have access to install and play in a single view, without needing to remember which particular subscription or purchase gives you that access." Here's a look at the new design:

As mentioned, this new My Games & Apps experience is currently only available for Alpha Skip-Ahead Insiders, but we assume it'll be rolling out to other rings soon, followed by a public release in the coming weeks/months.
Another new feature is the ability to set more automatic shutdown times, with the ability to turn off your console after 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, or 45 minutes of inactivity. Again, this is exclusive to the Alpha-Skip Ahead ring for now.

Nothing major but I will definitely prefer 6 titles per row than what we have now.
Looks pretty similar to the ps5 game library section.
Would also like them to change the home page layout or atleast make it so I can remove most things so I can actually see my wallpaper.
That's kind cool.
I still wish there was an option to display game information when highlighted though. Seeing achievements on the library screen on 360 was always really helpful.
It's nice, but what it really needs is a complete redesign. UI is very confusing and I get lost in it often. Also, some stuff I use regularly is not accessible, rather it's buried under multiple layers of menus.
It's not great. Would be a bit more helpful if you could switch the order around, imo, and as others have said, there are bigger priorities than something that didn't need it.
It was serviceable before and the new one looks to be the same. Actually nothing wowed me since the PS3's XMB (still using the console regularly and appreciate the simplicity).
@Kaloudz
I agree that this isn't a revamp. Really a minor shift more then anything. And it didn't hit the mark there either. Would've like to have been able to make the icons smaller then the current UI.
I am not sure about whether the UI needs an overhaul. I would rather the team focus on the platform optimization and making it the most capable platform then catering to UI improvements. To me, the UI is good enough.
Just looking at this versus my memory of a few days ago, I'm not actually seeing anything different?
Still I don't get why anyone would want them to just keep changing the OS all the time. The point of an interface is for it to become second nature so you can get in and out and get what needs to be done, done. That should be perfected to a single interface over time. Changing it to be pretty and be wowed defeats the entire point of a UI. The 360 era was a nightmare where the interface was completely new all the time making it impossible to just quickly and seamlessly get in and out and get the job done. I love the unified OS approach. Really wish PS5 would have just built onto PS4's UI rather than reinvent the wheel. Never was a fan of XMB though. It was an interesting curio, but ultimately not that efficient.
I would love for them to let us delete Demos and Trials from our Library.
I spend about 10 seconds in the dashboard. I'm sure there are other things they could be focused on.
@UltimateOtaku91 That was my first thought as well.
Yeah saw that earlier when I turned on my one S definitely an improvement
Would check it out but Twitter sucks.
@NeoRatt @NEStalgia I agree. My first Xbox was Xbox One in 2015. I preferred the Xbox One UI over the PS4 immediately. Xbox is more comprehensive. You can do almost anything. The Home button is a shortcut to most used features. I liked when they added games that you own but haven't downloaded and the upcoming update makes that seamless (if anyone hasn't noticed). It's nice to see your library tidied. On PS4, you have to go to an specific section and it's like a purchase history and your games are shown like a play history row, just like Switch. It's not good. On Xbox, you can order them alphabetically, by size, by platform... I made groups by genre. The Xbox has the best UI but a tile with ads is something I really can't understand and makes it feel cheap!
I would love them to do custom sorting!
I just want to be able to organize my games. It annoys me to no end that the tomb raider games are split up or that Bioshock Infinite shows before the first two
@Craigyy @LX_FENIX You can do that if you make groups.
@Banjo- Yeah, I died inside a little when they added advertising to the 360, and it kills me that it's still there. I don't mind if it's advertising games or peripherals even, or big sales events. But not movies, food, etc, etc.
On the flip side they advertise Xbox and games on the start menu of windows enterprise server.... Log into a backend server of a global bank and there's freaking Forza ads 😂
@NEStalgia And it's weird because Microsoft is so generous with customers. I mean Xbox customers.
Cool, maybe this Update can move Skate 2 back into the Games Section instead of Apps like it currently is for some dumb reason.
I tried Uninstalling and Reinstalling it and it still shows up under Apps 🤷♂️
I also second some earlier comments about a full Refresh of the UI... I liked that they changed it on 360 over time (though some were a Miss) the current one pales compared to the PS3/PS4/PS5 though imo even Switch had the right idea to just rip off the PS4 UI essentially 😂
