Earlier this year in March, a white version of the Series 2 Elite Xbox controller was spotted inside the cabinet of a store. Months later, there's still no official announcement, but we've now got what appears to be an unboxing video of the same controller:
The standard Elite 2 controller was released roughly two years ago, and by the looks of it, this is the same controller we've seen, but white. Keep in mind, Microsoft and Xbox haven't announced anything just yet, but if we hear any updates we'll let you know.
Jez Corden of Windows Central has also advised that he'd already heard of "some kind of new Xbox Elite Controller on the way, slated for the 2022 holiday season", so this could well be it โ assuming it's not a fake. There have even been rumours of a potential Elite Series 3 controller arriving next year as well, so let's hope all of this comes to fruition!

I like it but won't b buying,I think owning two elites is enough for me .....unless one breaks ...hmmmmmm
Another overpriced and cheaply made controller to test how gullible people still are.
I want one!!
Love the contrast of the black grips on a white shell. Looks great.
I'm conflicted about that design. I do like the contrast of the black and white colours, but at the same time I can't help but feel they were just being cheap by not making colour matched parts for a premium priced controller.
I love my Elite V2 - the best, most substantial and solid controller I have used. Never let me down since I purchased on Day 1 to 'replace' my V1 Elite...
The colour design of this variant is weird but the Elite Controller Series 2 is the best controller in the world. The size and shape are perfect. I was worried about the built-in battery but it lasts a very long time. This is very important, my PS4 controller battery has died but the Wii U pro controller, which is older and that I have used much more, still lasts days of gaming.
I have a standard controller and an elite series 2.
Not a necessity but a very good nice to have.
I like tension on the thumb sticks to the most stiff and the triggers on short stroke for FPS.
So itโs worked well for me compared to the standard series x controller.
Still have my Elite V1, but it is now outdated as it does not support the latest protocol that reduces latency. The update to provide that is locked to the blue tooth controllers onwards.
The V2 is a little old now too so I am happy to wait for V3.
@JetmanUK I also wanted to wait for Elite 3 but my launch Elite 1 had a few issues, specifically, a few thumbstick tops disintegrated like on the PS4 controller. It was not the end of the world and I used some of the others until the left bumper broke, no more clicks and no response, so I got the second model.
What I like the most is that the size and shape are perfect, it's a bit bigger than the Series X/S controller that I found a bit small in the lower side (the handles) and it's a bit smaller than Series 1, whose size was never an issue. Both feel right but Series 2 is a bit smaller and lighter. The rest of the features are subtle upgrades, one of the better ones is the improved profiles management. The addition of Bluetooth is handy for PC and mobile gaming but I'm not using Cloud much, to be honest. The built-in battery might be a problem in the future but, unlike PS4 and PS5 controllers, it lasts a long time. If it dies before the controller, I'll try to replace it. I did that with the Wii U Game Pad when the bigger-capacity battery was released. In regard to latency, I really don't feel the difference between using the USB cable and Xbox Wireless. My only concern about Elite 3 is that they make it even smaller like the Series X/S controller.
A little review for anyone interested ๐.
I'm not gonna lie, that's a really pretty controller.
Out of my price range, story of my life.
Until they make another translucent one, I'll stick with the one I made.
The Series 2 is hand down my favorite controller ATM though. I use with my Xbox, PC, and phone. Going on 3 years I think?
That said, if they ever do an Elite Series 3 I may be interested.
I would've liked it if it had white rubber grips instead of black. I got my Elite 2 as a gift, the buttons got mushy not long after. All the stories were unfortunately true. Poorly made? I'd say poorly tested.
The regular ones are more than good enough for me. I've been saving my MS points to maybe get a custom one made around Christmas, but I'm not going to spend that much on a minor upgrade.
@InterceptorAlpha What is that?! Gimme!
Both Elite 2 controllers I bought have annoyingly loud rumble motors, it totally kills the immersion (unless I am wearing my headphones). I do like the assortment & arrangement of sticks you can use. But besides that, I kind of wish I had saved my money and just stuck with the stock controllers...
That's not white. That's Panda Bear.
@Fishticon They may be a bit overpriced, they are still great controllers. I have two Elite controllers and I'm very happy with them. You can remap the buttons, there are short triggers and rear paddles as well if you want. The quality of it is very solid. People buying them aren't getting ripped off, saying someone is gullible for buying one is a stretch.
Who needs games when you can have this new colour controller lol (joking before everyone gets mad)
@InterceptorAlpha Where did you get that replacement shell?
@Scummbuddy it is a regular old Elite Series 2. Got a clear faceplate for it and painted it green. And have the trusty official chat pad for to skip needing a keyboard.
I was inspired by my old Halo Edition original Xbox Controller.
It needs white grips. I donโt like the looks of the black grips on the otherwise white body. ๐
@TheComputerist It was a clear shell I picked up off Amazon. I painted it myself.
@InterceptorAlpha beautiful job. I also always rock the official chatpad on my Xbox controllers. I like the weight they add plus of course the keyboard benefit. The only mod I've done to my Elite controller was to replace the XYAB buttons with colored ones. I do not like the four grey buttons. Telling my dad over the phone to find and press the "A" button is just complicated.
@Scummbuddy I hienstky never through of doing that since the green gives it alot more color.
I think I'm definitely going to do it now though thanks for the idea!
Just bought one from the Xbox Design Lab in Superman colors
@Martsmall your not planning on breaking your elite just to buy a new one are you? If thats the case just send me yours hahha
@Ashadelo lol no I wouldn't do that, I actually might get the new one but waiting to see if a elite 3 comes out
@Scummbuddy That's the only thing that I don't like about the Elite controllers, the grey buttons. I would have it with the coloured ones, I mean the 360 style introduced in the Xbox Design Lab. Even though I never had that console, I think it has the best colours.
Why didn't the "switchable" D-Pad persist from that special Xbox 360 controller? I thought it was a great idea.
