If you've been sitting on the fence about whether to buy an Xbox Series S, or maybe you've already got a Series X and you want to add the Series S to your family of consoles, now is a great time if you're located in the US!
Multiple retailers at the moment including Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop and the Microsoft Store are running a promotion where you can get a free digital game with your purchase of the console, with the list of games including the following:
- Elden Ring
- F1 22
- Far Cry 6
- Forza Horizon 5
- Halo Infinite
- LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga
- Madden NFL 23
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Saints Row
- Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
- WWE 2K22
Better yet, if you order from the Microsoft Store directly, you can get a $10 discount on the usual price for Xbox Series S, bringing the full total to $289.99 with a free game. Not bad at all if you ask us!
Not all of these games are available from the same retailers, so keep that in mind when you make your pick.

"or maybe you've already got a Series X and you want to add the Series S to your family of consoles"
I can barely find things to play on my Series X as it is. I don't need a second Series console.
I want there to be a Persona 5 bundle just to watch the internet completely melt down.
@uptownsoul The same could be said for several of the games in this offer, too. Popular as GP is, some people do just want to own the game. And P5 won't be on GP forever unlike FH5. It's definitely a viable deal, though I don't think it would help them sell consoles, no matter how loud and irritating the Persona mafia looks on the internet.
@NEStalgia can you imagine a Red Series S with the Phantom Thieves logo on white on the black vent circle? I’d buy one in a heartbeat.
@Tharsman That definitely would be the best S collectors model!
@uptownsoul
Everybody knows Xbox Series consoles won't overtake Playstation 5 in terms of sales, including Microsoft. I'd say Xbox is doing admirably well this gen just based on the consoles with barely any first party games so far. Also, demand for everything that's not a staple item is dropping rapidly. Where I live stores are giving 50% discounts on washing machines, fridges etc. PS5 is readily available online everywhere. This slowdown will affect Playstation too, mate. Just a matter of time.
Console sales r dipping quite badly, some due to shortage of stock, but no one talks about the financial turmoil in the world atm, many countries now being close to a resession as a result of the Russia/Ukraine conflict, this certainly is effecting sales big time too. Hence the promotion of console prices is really needed at this point of time?
@gollumb82 It's been predicted that the Series S will outsell even PS eventually due to its affordability and its very well on its way getting to that point. Time will tell of course.
@uptownsoul
Not sure if demand is dropping in the USA I think currently Xbox is outselling PS5 there.
The UK there has been a drop off and has been for a couple of months now, a lot stock sitting on shelves. Xbox is not third for year 2022 sales wise.
Remember the UK is a strong Xbox country especially in the Xbox360 days and did ok with the Xbox one.
Microsoft’s issue is PR and exclusive games and the current lack of momentum around the console. Game pass even though I think it is great and have GP until 2025 doesn’t help expose its self on the game charts in the shops, no Xbox games in the top 10 on the shops walls etc.
It’s Nintendo and Sony games that feature.
It’s like xbox have slightly disappeared and not exposed enough. They need to whip some enthusiasm up for the Xbox eco system.
I think Microsoft have chilled this year as no big new AAA exclusive games for 2022. Let’s hope in 2023 they have big PR and advertising for some those big AAA games coming up. FM, Redfall and Starfield.
Microsoft need to learn how to PR outside of the USA and get other countries general public engaged.
@gollumb82
I think the sales of the Series consoles and the PS5 consoles are a lot closer than you would imagine.
In the US Xbox has beaten PS for at least the last 3 quarts in sales. So 9 months straight, last I remember seeing was something like PS only being 1.5 million ahead in sales.
Xbox need a bundle in the UK I would suggest
A digital copy of FH5 and or Halo Infinite with a flash new console box showing this and maybe the game is for free, along with some advertising.
Just like Sony are doing with HFW PS5 bundle.
It’s not hard Microsoft get you dam PR team in gear and get on it, that is how you create some momentum in the UK, not sitting back doing nothing.
@gollumb82 especially if they won’t make Activision games exclusive.
@uptownsoul
Fair enough. I'm not the kind of guy who gets excited looking at sales figures. This gen I game on both XSX and PS5 and that suits me just fine. I guess I'm just happy Xbox is back when it comes to some actual competition. That gave last gen away with a whimper. Sony needs to feel MS' breath to be more competitve.
@uptownsoul
Well, the PS crowd got used to PS outselling Xbox in the previous gen so you can see why this could be celebrated here as a sign of change. I honestly only care because I think Sony got complacent and could use some competition.
@uptownsoul
Fair enough I know it is very close in the USA for sure, not much in it.
Europe and Japan is where PS5 gains the worldwide sales advantage over the Series consoles. Though England is a bit close as well.
Xbox killed its own momentum by (as usual) not being able to get any big titles out for 2022. I have both the Series X and S already, both are FANTASTIC pieces of hardware. Games and marketing are their failure points, which has almost always been the case. Hopefully things will pick up in 2023. The lack of games for 2022 doomed them this generation already, I’m afraid. Hopefully they’ll drop the price on the Series S and entice some people to give the brand a try. They simply can’t get those tentpole games to market.
@TheGrizMan
You summed that up well.
Yes it’s like Xbox have a small self destruct button. They do it all the time, I am really not sure what they are up to sometimes.
All I can think off because of the recent Activision buy out is a long term strategy.
But that doesn’t mean you have to kill momentum here and now.
They seem a daft lot at Microsoft to me.
