We were really, really surprised by As Dusk Falls during our playtime for review. Its release sort of snuck up on us, and we were not expecting its storyline to be as good as it was, which is to say, it kept us on the edge of our seats throughout its roughly six-hour runtime!
We don't appear to be the only ones either. Other critics seemed to be fond of it around launch, barring a few outliers, with most also highlighting the game's engaging storyline and interesting characters as a real driving force behind this small-town Arizonan adventure.
But, we want to know, what do you think of As Dusk Falls so far? Is it living up to your own expectations, or were you expecting a bit more from this story-driven adventure on Xbox Game Pass?

The art style is a challenge for me, but the story is great so far with some really difficult decisions.
I really enjoyed it. Got a pretty decent outcome too. Normally with these type of games I make all the wrong decisions and everyone has a bad time.
I like the look of it but the way it moved i found jarring and i had to get used to it. But once i got past that theres great story in there
Gonna give this a try. Answer honestly, is the story anywhere near the likes of TLOU, Uncharted, God of War?
@sjbsixpack I’m 2/3 through the game and I’d say no
@sjbsixpack no but those games are not multiple choice multiple out come games so its not really a direct comparison.
A more accurate comparison would be to Quantic dream games like Detroit, Heavy rain etc
@trev666 fair play. The only reason i ask is to ose type of games are my fav games. Big, single player, story driven games. Will still give this a try. Detroit is a fantastic game.
I played 5 minutes then Said I am not playong a hidden object game in 22, and uninstalled
Just finished it, absolutely fantastic experience. A huge surprise, I was very pessimistic about this game but it turned out to be amazing
It was a good game but completed it got all achievements and unistalled it but it was fun
Just finished Stray, so back to trying to start the Quarry with the wife. As Dusk Falls will follow the Quarry if we can ever actually play through the darn game. I preordered the game, but I seriously struggle getting through “not child friendly games” (Switch excluded though it’s been a while) these days.
this game is perfect for cloud gaming on phone....not worth downloading 50 plus gb
Finished chapter 3 and couldn't help myself to replay the game trying other possibilities. It's crazy how much the story changes based on decisions. I m really liking ir so far.
On my second play through. Digging it.
Finished chapter 2 last night and was really enjoying it. The story does pull you in. And this is coming off the back of Until Dawn and Man of Medan. Enjoying some good story games at the moment apparently.
Worth checking this out; and yea the art takes some getting used to but I think it looks really good!
I have first to finish Omno and Raji before they leave GP by the end of next week. Should still have time to play this One before xenoblade
Yep, enjoying it so far. Love the artistic style and hats off for trying something different. This and Road 96 will be my weekend.
@SplooshDmg I completely agree with you.
I wasn't super excited by this game, but I started it yesterday and wow!
I think it is one of the surprises of 2022 so far.
Not a game I would consider buying but given it was ‘free’ I downloaded it. Wasn’t expecting to play more than a few mins before deleting it but I have to say I got hooked. The juddery (for want of a better way of describing) art style almost made me turn it off but I did get used to it and have really enjoyed it so far. A few times I have felt a little ‘cheated’ that a decision I have made hasn’t played out as I was expecting but I would recommend anybody giving it a go.
So far I find it interesting but not compelling. Also find the interface to be clumsy. Will push forward a bit more then reappraise.
Have a great weekend amongst the many heatwaves!
One chapter in and quite enjoying it. Have avoided spoilers and randomoy getting achievements; already wondering what different choices will get me story-wise.
It's a very good game and very entertaining. The art style isn't for everyone but I actually like it, it gives some sort of visual novel vibe. The story is not something you see in games often. The whole idea of having max 8 people work together and see how people would react in certain situations is also nicely done, I will play this game alone but I can see people playing this with theirs non gaming friends just to see how people would react. I'll prolly do other playthrough in the future because from what I hear choices really matter in this one. If I could score it it would be a solid 8 out of 10 for me personally
Touch controls on a phone work really well with this game, unlike all other touch games I've tried.
honestly fell asleep playing this game. truth.
but i was definitley intrigued.
Finished Omno and did not like Raji so I have started this one earlier and oh Boy I am really liking it! Was outside in the morning so played on mobile and it works great and I feel like I will replay it to make outcomes different as it is not allways straightforward to have it as you intend to. Also I am liking the artstyle quite a bit
@Lucylu1983 you discount the game but that would take multiple playthroughs or at least changing the time line. So yea. Seems like you enjoyed it.
Just finished it. Absolutely loved it - highly recommend it!
