Narrative horror title The Quarry, from the developer of Until Dawn, launched last month on Xbox. We thought it was a real return to form for Supermassive Games, who'd stumbled a little with the just-okay Dark Pictures series. Well, their latest title now has a free trial on Xbox, for those of you who want to test your mettle.
The free trial is live right now across the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S versions, both of which are currently on sale as part of the Xbox Summer Sale 2022 as well. If you want to continue navigating The Quarry's engrossing story beyond the trial period, both gen versions are 33% off. Here's a brief overview of that story setup:
Hunted by blood-drenched locals and something far more sinister, the teens' party plans unravel into an unpredictable night of horror. Friendly banter and flirtations give way to life-or-death decisions, as relationships build or break under the strain of unimaginable choices.
Play as each of the nine camp counselors in a thrilling cinematic tale, where every decision shapes your unique story from a tangled web of possibilities. Any character can be the star of the show—or die before daylight comes.
We're not sure exactly how long the trial runtime is, but these free trial periods are typically an hour long before expiring. The Quarry is a linear, story-focused title and Supermassive won't want to give too much away during its free play period! Still, it should provide a good way to test the waters before a potential purchase.
To download it, simply search for the game on Xbox, and then hit the "Free Trial" button.
Will you be giving this free trial a go? Or are you over the Supermassive formula at this point? Let us know!
