After the unfortunate delays to Starfield and Redfall, we can't say we weren't a tad worried about Xbox exclusives over the next few months. However, from a recent media briefing, Xbox has raised our hopes once again.
The company recently went ahead and detailed its plans over the course of the next year, including what we should see from Xbox Game Studios. In short, Microsoft says it is "on track" to match or exceed the last 12 months of releases, which included Microsoft Flight Simulator, Psychonauts 2, Age of Empires IV, Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite.
At the minute, Starfield and Redfall are still set to launch within the next year, but beyond that, we have no real confirmation on the rest of the forthcoming year's lineup. There's always Bethesda's Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo that Microsoft could be including here, which are both currently serving one year exclusivity periods on PlayStation.
As for anything else? Well, we the picture should be a little clearer come this Sunday, June 12th. Of course, this is the sacred date for the big Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase for 2022.
What would you like to see from Xbox within the next year? Let us know down below!

Halo Infinite 2, Outer Worlds 2, Forza Horizon 27, Forza 31, Fallout 5.
As Dusk Falls, Forza Motorsport, Redfall, Starfield, Gears collection
Not sure how Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo fit in here since they’re clearly not exclusive. I would think Forza Motorsport is one and could be close to releasing this year or early next, they could also be referring to the rumored Gears collection, and maybe Avowed or Hellblade 2 is part of the 5. So many possibilities.
1. Forza Motorsport
2. Grounded 1.0
3. As Dusk Falls
4. Starfield
5. Redfall
If it includes ghostwire and death loop in the 5 games then it’s not all that inspirational.
LOL… five??? Five??! Slow down MS you’ll hurt yourself
Crackdown 4, Gears Tactics 2 and Project Diva please.
I think Xbox is the only gaming platform without a Project Diva now.
@Chaudy Mostly good list I think you are right on the money for 4 of those. But As Dusk Falls is from independent studio Interior Night. Swap for Deathloop
P.S. I'm sure it will be more than 5 assuming Starfield and Redfall hit in next 12 months and don't get pushed again.
@themightyant oh yes that's not a first party game. You're right. I think you've got it. That's probably the list
@themightyant As Dusk Falls is still under the Xbox Game Studios branding though so it's probably counted.
Why call out something like this , 5 exclusives games next year if we’re lucky we will get 2. Starfield and Redfall lthe 3 others will be reported.
Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop aren't exclusives and neither is stalker 2 so don't know if he's counting those, can't see redfall releasing within 12 months and I think starfield might just make it.
So that's 1 so far, maybe forza motorsport and this new rumoured Minecraft RTS may be included, plus the Gears collection but anything else is a mystery
Maybe the Xbox presentation will have something in it that releases in 2022!?
@UltimateOtaku91 Neither was Psychonauts 2 but its still an Xbox 1st Party release. Both Deathloop and Ghostwire are still Xbox First Party releases even though neither has released on their console. Just because they are playable on PS/PC hardware, doesn't mean that 'everyone' has played on those platforms - some only have an Xbox and been waiting excitedly for these, others may of decided to wait to play 'Free' via Game Pass too.
Point is, those 2 games weren't mentioned in the post but are both still expected to release on Xbox in the next year. Redfall and Starfield are both 'expected' in the next year too so if you take the 5 games (AoE, H:I, MSFS, PN2, FH5) that 'ALL' released between E3 2021 and E3 2022, then in the next year (E3 22-E3 23), they believe they are giving Xbox customers an 'equally' strong line-up in that 'year' slice.
Did PS owners rush out and buy an Xbox for Rise of the Tomb Raider or 'wait' for it to come to their platform? Xbox owners knew Deathloop/GW:T were coming to Xbox and expect these on Game Pass so are still looking forward to their chance to play. They aren't going to rush out and buy something they'll get free in a year. For all you know, MS may have some extra content for when these release to Game Pass - and Sony owners have to buy the DLC.
Deathloop in Particular is still an award winning game made by an Xbox First Party Studio. Its still coming to Xbox Game Pass for Consoles Day and Date. Its still the first time many will have the opportunity to play on their Platform of Choice!!
@Dezzy70 Exactly. Normally you could say that's not bad, but given how many studios Microsoft owns now, it should easily be more than 5. He did basically say at least, but still, if it's only 5 or 6 then that's disappointing, not encouraging. A big reason why would be the fact that this means that most of the really anticipated games other than Starfield and Redfall are still a ways off, along with there only being 1 or 2 games we didn't already know was coming out next year since it's obvious Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo would release pretty much right after their timed exclusivity is up.
@Nic-Noc20th-C I'd like a new crackdown aslong as it's more like the original & less like 3 lol
