The Xbox console exclusive Planet of Lana was first revealed all the way back at Summer Game Fest 2021, and as part of this week's selection of 2022 E3-style events, we got a fresh new peek at some gameplay.
As you can see, it's artistically beautiful, and this is one we're really hoping finds its way to Xbox Game Pass whenever it eventually releases in 2022. The game itself is described as a "cinematic puzzle adventure framed by an epic sci-fi saga", in which you and your loyal friend embark on a rescue mission.
You'll find some more details below, along with a slightly different trailer from the Future Games Show:
A planet that used to be a place of undisturbed balance between human, nature, and animal has now become something else entirely.
The disharmony that had been in the making for hundreds of years has finally arrived in the form of a faceless army. But this is not a story about war. This is a story about a vibrant, beautiful planet –and the journey to keep it that way.

I don't need to click on the video, I've already seen Planet of Anal.... Ooh sorry, my mistake.
Wasn’t this one confirmed for Game Pass a few months ago? Looks really interesting to me
@JetmanUK 😂😂😂 brilliant 👍
Wait, an actual CONSOLE exclusive?! I didn't think Microsoft did that anymore.
@somnambulance I believe it HASN'T been announced for Game Pass. But i'm hoping it is as good as it looks and Microsoft makes them an offer they can't refuse - as they do with almost all the best indies. They're curation is excellent
@themightyant interesting. I must have confused something from the last time it was shown. Then again, we were all told Tunic wouldn’t be on Gamepass and there it was. I hope this is the same story, but, if not, I’d be happy to actually purchase a solid game on Xbox, you know?
@somnambulance I've almost forgotten how to do that. lol. Game pass is just too good.
Tunic is a good shout and other games like Death's Door or The Forgotten City didn't come Day 1 but came a few months later. But if it's good i'll buy it later, but i'm more likely to wait now due to GP.
Ultimately Microsoft make a VERY compelling offer to small indie studios, covering approximately all their dev costs on Day 1, and everything else is profit. Plus being on Game Pass or PS+ or similar also leads to additional sales elsewhere as it's another form of advertisement. Everyone talking about your game, more people playing the art you made. Really difficult to say no really for small studios.
@themightyant I bought Death’s Door (on Xbox) and The Forgotten City (on PS5). I should’ve waited. Lol. But not on The Forgotten City. I feel glad I directly supported them. One of my absolute favorite games of all time.
I was surprised Somerville was in the Gamepass infographic for 2022 with the lack of new info, but hey I’ve got my future Gamepass game regardless of Lana
@somnambulance There's a few things coming out that weren't included on Sundays showcase. Perhaps this evening for Sommerville (crosses fingers) or more likely they didn't have time to put together a trailer as they're busy finishing the game.
