To round off the week, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has taken to Twitter today to praise this week's State of Play show from PlayStation, as well as look ahead to next week's Summer Game Fest and Xbox Games Showcase events.
In his message to fans, he stated that Sony's show "was a great start yesterday", in which the likes of Resident Evil 4 Remake, Street Fighter 6 and The Callisto Protocol all received release windows (including for Xbox):
We've got quite a few events on the calendar for next week including a Devolver Digital showcase alongside Summer Game Fest on June 9th, various indie-focused events on June 10th and 11th, and then the big one on June 12th - the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase (the PC Gaming Show also takes place the same day).
We'll be building up to, and covering, all the big events throughout the week here at Pure Xbox, so rest assured you won't miss any key Xbox reveals. You'll also be able to watch all the big shows directly here on the website!

So excited for the showcase. Props to Phil for making it about the games, not the platform 😎 state of play was indeed a great start.
Now let’s see some Ashen!!
@Kooky_Daisuke honestly if he did it would be weird. They are different folks and if Jim started praising the competition it would just come off as fake. That Herman dude at Sony is the one that usually does that part for them right? Jim don't play games, he only cares about the numbers.
@Krzzystuff yeah if you see convoys on Twitter between ps and Xbox it's usually Hermen Hulst and Phil Spencer tweeting back and forth. Those guys seem to have major respect for each other and also applaud the others achievements.
State of play last night was excellent and hopefully the summer games show and xbox's show will atleast be on par with it.
Who knows, if this summer games show is something special then maybe this could be the new "E3", let playstation, xbox and nintendo have their own shows in June and everyone else puts their stuff into the summer games show as trailers, cuts out all the bloat talking etc
Since most games at Sony’s State of Play are coming to Xbox as well, that helps MS and also leaves more time to concentrate on other releases at their presser.
I know there's people that turn even this into a console war and say that Phil is being snarky and piggybacking Sony's show to promote his own, and maybe on a business level there's truth to that, but considering he actually plays PS, personally, knows the Insomniac guys, Santa Monica guys, Shu, Herman....I'm pretty sure it's genuine. And Shu plays Xbox. Contrary to the console warriors, some of them are really just genuinely game fans and customers as well as execs.
@Lavalera @Krzzystuff Yeah, Herman's the game dev and Shu Yoshida's the gamer. Jim's just a business executive. He could be selling diapers, it's just numbers, the product doesn't matter for him. And it shows.... He's steeped in "consumer product" culture and "media" culture and ends up not reading the room of gamers over and over. And at Nintendo Doug Bowser comes from Proctor & Gamble. Tootpaste, Mario, same thing. Units to move numbers. (So did Reggie, but Reggie's unique...) Which is fine, you don't need to be a gamer to run a games company, but it does help to not have PR meltdowns weekly.
@UltimateOtaku91 I miss E3, and I really miss the old live stage shows. I do hope it comes back. And I can't stand Keighley. But I'm totally cool with getting a June games party in whatever form as long as we get one. At least Sony's back with this format, it was weird with the missing those years. I miss the talking, it was part of the charm and grandiosity. I don't miss the pie charts of market penetration and sales trajectories and revenue streams though. Although in hindsight, that was part of classic E3's charm that went away even the past 7 years. It felt like watching the inside business.
@awp69 I was surprised how much of Sony's show as multiplatform. I know it said 3rd party, but it's still weird to have Sony run a show and everyone's talking about the games coming to Xbox after
@Enriesto shush props to Phil. Don’t fall for it.
I’m glad to see Phil give credit to others in this market. There’s still a lot of toxic people, but I feel like with the leaders on top being more cordial, it lets others see that there’s room for more than one console. There’s a long way to go, but I feel Phil has made gaming a little friendlier.
@SplooshDmg Come on, it's this not the face of a future eSports champion?

Let’s just hope Xbox has something good to show gameplay wise. I would love to see Avowed get a release this year or early next. I need some elder scrolls fix!
Love my Xbox, but it seems easy to come off as humble and gracious when you're backed by a trillion dollar corporation.
I really hope E3 is back properly next year
