Many of us in the Xbox community collectively got our hopes up when a rumour suggested back in May that The Coalition might reveal a "Gears Collection" at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase 2022, but Windows Central journalist Jez Corden has cast doubt on its existence, suggesting we won't be seeing it this weekend.
Responding to a fan on Twitter, Corden stated that he doesn't believe it's real:
He also went on to advise that maybe it'll be real some day, but not right now:
The original rumour came from XboxEra's Shpeshal_Nick, who claimed that he was "of the belief that [a collection] is coming this year," heavily implying that it had something to do with the Gears of War series.
So, it seems either Nick knows something that Jez doesn't, or maybe there's been some confusion somewhere. It'd be great to see it at the Showcase this Sunday, but it's probably not worth getting your hopes up right now.
Do you think we'll see the Gears Collection this Sunday? Let us know in the comments below.

Too many remakes and remasters being announced at the moment anyway. All for the better the company's resources are going into something new.
Honestly I couldn’t care less. Developers need to let go of past glory and focus on new projects. All these remasters/remakes are taking away time and resources that could be better spent on fresh new ideas and experiences.
I think that the 1 remake and the rest of the games play really well on Xbox One X and Series S/X.
I see no reason why they should this since we can already play all. Remakes and remasters should be saved for games we can't play on current consoles and are good enough to he replayed.
@pip_muzz
Someone on here that agrees with me.
The Xbox and gamepass is slowly becoming the old game and remasters console.
All Xbox studio resources on new AAA games would be much appreciated.
@Lavalera Like the Project Zero/Fatal Frame games 1, 2, 3 and 4.
Hopefully it's not real
It would be a shame if it isn't real, the 360 games have big issues with the multiplayer. Matches that aren't only bots are filled with hackers.
I still can't see the point of such collection, given that every Gears episode is fully playable (and enhanced !) on actual Xbox.
That’s a huge bummer if this turns out to not be real. I was really looking forward to jumping back into Gears while I wait for 6. At the very least I’d love a Gears 2 edition similar to what they did for Halo 2.
@Jslade you do know all the Gears games are available on Gamepass right? And Gears 6 will probably release day one on Gamepass since it’s a first party game.
@Dezzy70
I agree as well. Take TLOU on PS as an example. They released the game at the end of the PS3 era. Remastered it a year-ish later for PS4 and now they are remastering it again for PS5.
I refuse to keep on buying a bunch of remasters when publishers/developers should be creating new content. And when I say new, I mean new and original! Not new and recycled! I dubbed the XBO/PS4 generation the recycled generation because there was not a ton of new IP.
I understand remaking games like FF VII as an example. There is a massive leap between the original and the remake. Really a whole new game, but when all you are doing is upgrading graphics, sound, and fixing bugs in the original that is a lame release.
Damn it Jez, Damn it..
Halo MCC is far beyond what the original 360 titles were.
1) It consolidates the MP Modes. Allowing for fans who aren't in to the newer titles to find a renewed and combined community. COD and Gears are even better for this since the gameplay itself doesn't change as much each title as Halo did.
2) They can release these titles to other platforms other than Xbox.
3) It allows for the chance to inlcude many quality of life features. Like cross play and cross progression with these other platforms.
And comparatively, the resources it takes to remaster titles is pennies compared to a brand new title or a full blown remake like RE4. The lack of a remaster would not mean the existence of a brand new AAA title.
@NeoRatt
Yep they are all at it for some reason.
Maybe cashing in as much as they can on old games and remasters.
Not sure we are in for much new AAA this year.
Maybe if you had all three consoles and like the games there are a few slim pickings of new/sequels but that seems to be about it.
PS5 HFW, GT7 so far
SWITCH, Splatoon 3 due and maybe others?
Xbox, Zero so far 2022. let’s see Sunday.
@Kingleo31 I am well aware of all that. I mainly am referring to the multiplayer on the 360 games. After so many years it's full of bots and cheaters, and would be great to play Gears 2 and 3 online again.
I want to play Gears 1 thru 3 on PC and Steam Deck
That's the only rumour I really care about -_-
