It's looking like full development on The Witcher 4 is just beginning, as research on the project has wrapped up. CD Projekt's CEO Adam Kiciński addressed investors earlier today, May 26th, detailing where the company is at regarding its major projects, and there's a hint at The Witcher 4's progress.
The game is just starting development, it seems. While most of the team is hard at work on a major expansion for Cyberpunk 2077, Kiciński detailed how the next Witcher came is coming along.
We are very eager to revisit the universe which has shaped our history to such an extent,
We have recently concluded the research phase for the first game in the new Witcher saga, which means that from now on further development expenditures will be capitalized on our balance sheet
So, yeah, it's sounding like the team has just nailed down all of the big picture details for The Witcher 4, probably things like its setting, inspirations, and the core direction of the game moving forward.
What this does tell us is that the next Witcher game is far, far away. In fact, we're probably talking towards the end of the current generation, given how long it takes to build a huge AAA open world RPG these days. Ah well, something to look forward to!
Where would you like The Witcher 4 to be set? Let us know down in the comments.

Unreal Engine 5 is supposed to make creating large detailed open worlds much simpler in so many different ways, so hopefully this won't take too long
10 years from now we will get a trailer.
@Kooky_Daisuke They have previous. On console Witcher 2 was pretty broken at at launch, and a HUGE downgrade compared to PC. Witcher 3 also had problems on console but wasn't as bad. CyberPunk wasn't their first shoddy port out the gate.
@Kooky_Daisuke someone didn't play Witcher 3 at launch, lol. Nearly as bad as CP2077 was, but most people weren't playing it or paying any attention to it, until it had been patched several times. CP2077 had everyone's eyes on it from the get-go.
