Remember the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake? Yeah, Ubisoft announced it back in 2020 and after a short delay, it was a mere month out from launch before the plug was pulled once again in early 2021. Well, it's not sounding any closer to release thanks to a brief update from Ubisoft.
To put it simply: the game is effectively delayed indefinitely, for a second time. Ubisoft says that a different development team is now leading the project, and it needs more time to regroup and refocus on the remake.
That team is Ubisoft Montreal; the developer who created The Sands of Time series in the first place. While the news will likely add another significant delay to the game's release, at least the team says we'll get news on their progress in a future update.
As to why the developer switch has happened, we're not quite sure. Reception to the remake's visuals were, let's say hit-and-miss back in 2020, with multiple delays following said reception. For now, we're not sure when Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will actually come out, but hopefully it's not as far away as it seems.
What do you make of this news? Disappointed to see another delay? Let us know in the comments!

This is now become the 1st watch dogs, delay delay delay. But i really like prince of persia, I just hope this doesn't get canned. Also makes me worry 2 and 3 have no future.
This is actually the best possible news. Ubisoft Mumbai was a new studio, assembled exclusively for this project, with no prior experience in game development, hence the lackluster results we got in the first preview of the remake. Quite an insult to the Prince actually, as the original game and it's legacy, deserved much better than that. Ubisoft Montreal is one of the companies top tier game houses, and the Prince will be in much better hands. Hoping for something good from this now as Prince of Persia is one of my favorite franchises.
“No no. That’s not how that happened.”
Hmmm…. I was excited when it was first announced. Then we saw it and it got delayed. I’m hopeful but not expecting much from it. If it turns out good, then that would be great! If it turns out bad, then I didn’t get my hopes up high. Maybe Ubisoft really does need to be acquired.
It should have been the original team remaking it in the first place. Hopefully this means an actual remake not a game that looks worse than the ps2 original like the footage we were shown before
