Interested in a career in gaming? Xbox has kickstarted a new mentoring program today in which you can apply to "access valuable 1:1 coaching sessions" with key female leaders throughout Xbox, with eight people to be chosen in all.
The leaders include the likes of Everwild Executive Producer Louise O' Connor, The Coalition (Gears of War) Producer Venessa Nyarko, Xbox France Director Ina Gelbert and many others.
"Xbox's new mentoring programme includes leading women in the industry who have a commitment to make their voices heard – and now, they're sharing their insights through unique one-on-one coaching opportunities. This programme is open to everyone seeking career advice and growth."
In order to take part, you'll need to register at the Xbox Mentoring website between now and April 6th, and fill in a brief description of why you want to meet your chosen mentor and how they can help you. If you're successful, the website points out that "you will learn more about how the mentor grew her skillset and what that job looks like on a daily basis. Come with questions to understand how you can professionally grow, and what your next steps could look like to get clarity on your goal, as well as how you can evolve your goals."
For a full FAQ about the Xbox Mentoring program, you'll find it over at the official Xbox website.
"Microsoft will select one (1) individual (8 individuals in total) from each participating region: US, UK, ANZ (Australia & New Zealand), Canada, DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), France, Japan and Korea for the coaching session. The individual will be selected based upon similar career goals that match the mentor`s career experience."

So is this just for women?
@Bleachedsmiles "This programme is open to everyone seeking career advice and growth." đź‘Ť
@FraserG uh huh… but also seeking one individual that for each region based on similar career goals that match the mentors experiences… Sounds like a box needs ticking.
@Bleachedsmiles Yeah I mean the image they used simply had 3 females with different ethnic appearances, and they keep talking about women and being a part of a "collective push" for "inclusivity." When I see stuff like that, it seems to be a red flag for checking off boxes based upon the way you look. If I don't look the way they want me to look, I doubt I'll have the luxury of being included in their inclusivity program.
So is there a "No blokes apply" I mean it reads like it's exclusively for women which to be completely honest is kind of crappy.
@Bleachedsmiles @JayJ I do wonder if it had 3 guys in the picture with different ethnic appearances whether you’d be asking the same questions?
@themightyant Absolutely. Trans be needing represent too!
Christ the sexism in the comment section. We women are underrepresented already in this field, why is it such a bad thing to have something like this?
@themightyant is right and y'all need to check your privilege.
