It's fair to say that not all Halo fans were on board with the Halo TV show prior to its launch on Paramount Plus last month, with some criticising the pre-release trailers and stating they didn't like the direction it appeared to be going in.
In response, the star of the show, Pablo Schreiber, recently took to Instagram to call out the "fans" who "hated the show before they saw it and disagree with what we are doing," telling them that despite their opinion, he loves them too:
"For all the 'fans' rooting against the home team, who hated the show before they saw it and disagree with what we are doing, I respect your opinion and I love you too. Because the truth is, we love the same thing. And I will keep working my ass off each and every day to make this show the best version of itself, to bring attention and respect to this Halo universe we love."
In the same post, Schreiber also addressed the fans who have "responded with such overwhelming support and love," and revealed the show was the second most streamed piece of entertainment in the US last week.
The Halo TV series seems to be off to a successful start, with the third episode set to drop this Thursday, April 7th. If you're in the US, you can watch the first episode of the Halo series for free right now on YouTube until that date.

Would love to watch it but it's not on in the UK. I thought we were past this slow global roll out.
For the first time in years thought about pirating a TV show.
Blaming the fans has worked out so well for the success of a series... 🙄
@Savage_Joe I won't be surprised if Neil Druckmann does it too with its hbo tlou series.
None of these gaming movies/tv are great. A very selected few are just decent at best.
Arcane was awesome but it's nothing like the game.
It’s one of those things, shows tend to stray away from the core of what a fanbase knows and loves about the franchise in the first place. You can end up in this strange situation where you please no one, fans don’t like it and newcomers don’t like it. Not sure how Halo is being received but I could easily see that being the case when all is said and done.
On a personal level I don’t hate the Halo show, I just won’t watch it because it looks naff and doesn’t portray Halo as I’d like on screen.
@RevGaming Castlevania on Netflix is also amazing, but then again, also not much like the games.
@Vepra Right! Forgot that one.
@Savage_Joe Except that nobody is actually blaming the fans for anything here. Did you actually read the article or just the headline?
@Savage_Joe he's not blaming the fans
GoT was nothing like the books, but it didn't stop people from watching it or being a nice show initially
@RevGaming the series can be good and astray from the games if the story is good enough. The Sonic movies, Arcane, Castlevania, heck even the 1st season of The Witcher were all great because the stories were interesting. Uncharted made a good effort, but it was not a great movie overall.
But when a beloved series get tarnished by radical political ideals while sacrificing story, that's where I draw the line. We see things like this Halo series, Cowboy Bebop, Masters of the Universe, etc., where the true fans and new fans won't like.

Neil Drunkman already spat on fans over TLoU 2, so, I won't be surprised either 😂
@Donald_M "For all the 'fans' rooting against the home team, who hated the show before they saw it and disagree with what we are doing"
He's doing the exact same thing you are complaining about me. He's assuming that the haters did not see the episodes. The reviews are low, but it's not because they didn't watch it...
@Savage_Joe I don't think the first sonic movie was great. It was decent/solid.
Same for the witcher 2 seasons. This one is bloated with information and it has a rushed pacing. Uncharted was solid too. Played all of those games.
Yes. Kojima and Neil are directors I remember that did respond to some of the hate. At least the Neil one was justified. It specifically targets people who still think Tlou2 is an sjw and lgbt focused game, which the only thing I can recall from that claim is the bigot sandwitch comment. The guys that think the game is that will probably look like that old guy from the game hehe. I think he might respond if people don't like the show since that happened. I think Cory is more opinionated on twitter though.
It's a decent sci-fi show. Is it a good halo show? So far, in my opinion, no. But I'll give it more episodes.
@Savage_Joe I mean, there was a lot of pre-release criticism, all he's saying is he's gonna keep working to make the best show in spite of it. His mistake is in acknowledging at all. It always gets interpreted as "blaming the fans" no matter what is said.
@Savage_Joe Feel like the quality of the sonic movies is subject to debate depending on how much of fan one is. Tried “The Witcher” but was put out by the structure (and a bunch of really bizarre design choices) so I gave up early on. It shouldn’t really count as a game adaptation either since it is technically based on a book series , same as the video games. But since the latter were more well know at the time (especially since 3), people got mixed up about it.
It is a decent Sci-Fi show and the quality of acting, directing and production is very solid. It will not win any awards but it is enjoyable and well-made.
It is also generally fairly respectful of the lore. It takes the pieces from the lore but mixes and matches them a bit. So far I haven't seen something that screams it is impossible in the Halo universe. And after Halo 5 it is hard to say this show is the worst Halo story or anything like that.
Also, the strong violence and some nudity that it included so far show that it is targetting an adult audience which I always approve of.
Well there's already reviews on the shows, most people said the first episode is good, the second one is cr*p. What do you expect when the one making this shows didn't care about halo and never played it.
I watched the first episode. Doubt will continue. They really push it's a video game in your face constantly with Chief's HUD (which I found extremely annoying) . Then they pulled a Nick Fury having the Keyes' as Africans which also felt extremely pushed. If they were worried about diversity, one of the absolute best characters in the entire story is Sarge, and he is African.
@demian Going to "kinda" disagree with you there. For "most" part was very close to books (at least what they had source material for). Now I will totally agree there were at least 3 characters from the books left out that would IMPROVED exponentially the last few seasons. No idea if was laziness, budget, lack of confidence, or just wanting to end the show ASAP. Will say having seen Daenerys Starbucks cup in the show - - pretty sure I know the reasons.
@Blackjay The Witcher season one was a failure in my eyes despite Henry and Anya being really good. Watching episode 2, I had to bring up the menu. Was like, did I skip several episodes on accident? The time jumps were handled INCREDIBLY poor. All they had to was just throw a subtitle up there, X amount of years before battle/siege of X. For that very reason and struggling through first season, I have zero desire to watch season 2. Honestly may never watch it.
I'm really enjoying it although there are some character choices I think are dumb
@GuyinPA75 have you ever played halo captain Keyes has always been black
@Would_you_kindly I think you mean Sarge? Jacob and Miranda are Caucasian. Unless I'm missing something?
@GuyinPA75 your right I've just googled it guy I was thinking of is Avery Johnson my bad
@Would_you_kindly LOL. No worries. That's Sarge. He at least in my opinion is one best characters in the game. Love that dude! Great character!
Was unsure before I saw it. Hated it after I saw it
