Update #2 [Tue 29th Mar, 2022 02:30 BST]: The team has now confirmed the game will be going live at some point on 29th March (aka today). You can see the full patch notes over on the official game website.
Update [Sat 26th Mar, 2022 04:45 GMT]: It's now looking like this delayed patch could be going live as soon as next week:
"An update on the deployment of Patch 2.3: We're closing out our polish on the update, and it looks likely to go live next week. We'll continue to keep you updated as we finalize the deployment date!"
Original story [Wed 23rd Mar, 2022 05:55 GMT]: The team behind Marvel's Avengers is still supporting the game, but it looks like the next game update is going to be delayed. Instead of launching on 24th March, there'll now be a new date.
Patch 2.3 will see the return of Nick Fury (as an NPC) - where he will guide players through a redesigned War Table, and introduce them to the Avengers Initiative. Although the patch was meant to be arriving very soon, the team has now announced it's going to need some "extra time" to make sure it's well and truly ready to go.
It's unclear exactly how much longer players will have to wait for this next update. On a more positive note, it sounds as if the team may be taking more care with development.

I'm among the few who really liked this game.
I took it for a solo game, and enjoyed my time with it. Never bothered to play beyond in this multiplayer nonsense.
But the solo part is good : story is good, gameplay is cool and graphics are nice and shiny (on Series X). The only problem with this game was the game as a service approach.
But Square corrected it with Gardians, so...
Surely the playerbase can't be there. Wouldn't it be best to just hold fire on anymore updates and just focus on a new property..
GOTG rules! in both the game AND the movie!
@Bobobiwan agree 100% - as a solo player campaign it really is good. For the £10 you can pick it up for now it’s a great option. Unfortunately all the noise around the silly GaaS part drowns out the great campaign. That and people saying “ BuT tHeY DonT loOK liKe theY do in ThA MoViEZ”
The team isn't working on Marvel Avengers anymore, Square Enix have hired out the whole team (Crystal Dynamics) to Microsoft for completing Perfect Dark, so any work on updates is basically a surprise to me.
Does anyone even care about this game anymore. If Spider-Man couldn’t save it nothing will.
@Stocksy @Bobobiwan You're both entitled to your opinions of course, I wish that was the game I played, I had a very different take on the single player.
My biggest criticism was the combat and how little you felt like an Avenger. Characters felt weak and floaty and other than a couple of key moments it completely killed any sort of power fantasy of being a superhero.
The core story was decent, Kamala was a good lead, and there were a few **** yeah! moments, but not enough imo to turn it all around. Lots of other flaws too but the live service was the nail in the coffin.
p.s. there were more lens flares than a JJ Abrahms movie = -10 points
@themightyant I know what you mean, pal.
Personnaly, I played with Iron Man and really liked his gameplay. I never touched to others characters, except when I had to for story reasons.
Anyway, I plan to dig real soon in Gardians of Galaxy : that one seems to have charmed a lot of players, so I'm very excited to give it a try !
@Bobobiwan I just think it was such a missed opportunity. So many other games give a better feel of being a superhero. Even older ones like Prototype, Infamous or even Crackdown. And the latest God of War where every hit felt so visceral and meaty. Meanwhile Avengers felt like hitting people with a wet noodle. Agreed Iron Man was one of the slightly better ones.
Just a shame for all of us as Crystal Dynamics are a good team, Avengers is a great licence, and we deserved better.
Also planning on playing GOTG next month. Higher hopes for that one! Excited for it too. Enjoy.
the solo campaign was ok just didnt feel like a superhero playing this. many better superhero games came out before this
Great graphics but no substance and no story in the single player campaign..
Guardians of the galaxy on the other hand was a big surprise, imo better than the movies.
It has a great flow and you really have the feeling that you are part of a movie.
