Dying Light 2 was one of the first big releases of the year, followed by an absolutely packed February. Techland is hoping Dying Light 2 has legs though — just like the first game — and the team is beginning to details its DLC plans.
In an interview with Game Informer, Techland's lead game designer spoke about the journey towards Dying Light 2's release, and what comes next. While the team is delivering all sorts of post-launch content, it's the story stuff we're interested in.
In the near future at least, it looks like that story DLC will focus on side content. Techland says that for now, the team is working on narrative content "sideways to the main events" of Dying Light 2.
However, eventually, the end of the game's story will be tackled, and possibly extended.
At some point, we will actually start adding to the events that happened at the end of the game [...]
We have some ideas. On paper, as they are implemented right now, it seems promising, but definitely, this will be a challenge.
If the smaller, non-story additions are something you're looking forward to as well, those are a big focus for Techland too. The team is trying to cater to its "very varied" community throughout year one, and ultimately, its five-year post-launch plan.
Will you be hopping straight back into Dying Light 2 once DLC drops? Let us know below.
