And there it is! After a week of speculation that Capcom might be getting ready to announce Street Fighter 6, that's exactly what happened earlier today, with a teaser trailer also being unveiled for the game (which you can watch above).
Details are limited right now ā all we know is that Street Fighter 6 is actively in development, and more information will be shared in "Summer 2022". Platforms have yet to be confirmed, so the status of an Xbox version is up in the air.
As you may remember, Street Fighter 5 never ended up coming to Xbox in any form, so it's understandable that there's some scepticism about Street Fighter 6. XboxEra's Shpeshal_Nick on Twitter has advised that he was told a year ago SF6 would be a PlayStation exclusive, but he's hoping that information will turn out to be incorrect.
HERE COMES A NEW STREET FIGHTER. It's official: Street Fighter 6 is in development! Stay tuned for more news coming Summer 2022.
Hoping to see Street Fighter 6 on Xbox? Let us know down in the comments section below.

The first thing I did today was check Capcom's news. I really hope that it comes to Xbox and that Sony stopped the moneyhatting. It looks like it's made on RE Engine.
Definitely PS5 Exclusive
I feel there is more chance of this coming to PS4 than any Xbox.
Hopefully Iām proven wrong.
Enjoyed the last one so can't wait to play this what ever console it's on

This is much more exciting news. Rumored Atlas JRPG follow up Soul Hackers 2 announced with Xbox as a platform!
https://twinfinite.net/2022/02/soul-hackers-2-atlus/
Not announcing the platform is going to piss everyone off so much more if we have to wait until June to find out it's only going to ps5.....
Sony has invested a lot in fighting games, they bought Evo. It sucks as an Xbox user, but I also use PC, and after all of Xbox's purchases Sony has to buy something. Maybe it will be a timed exclusive or certain characters will be only on PlayStation, but yeah, this is probably coming to PS4 before any Xbox.
Couldn't it be argued that Sony owning EVO and getting exclusivity to a fighter that is a big part of EVO could be considered a monopoly in the e-sports scene? I'm just saying this kind of talk can go both ways.
That said, I haven't cared about Street Fighter since Alpha 3. I was so hoping this countdown would be for something else.
I always get concerned when a big game is announced and platforms aren't announced along with it.
@Kooky_Daisuke
enough with the dirty deals Sony!!! most anti consumer company on the planet
@Ashadelo You couldn't even cancel pre-orders on Sony consoles, last time I checked. Refund policy overall is a joke, just like with Nintendo. And I can't tell you how many times my PS+ subscription has been auto-renewed even though I made sure to turn-off auto-renew on my console AND on my PC...have to remove my payment method after I buy something to make sure it doesn't reactivate all my dormant subscriptions.
If ms just made MvC2 backwards compatible, that would make a lot of headway and take the winds out of some sails.
@Banjo- if itās made on RE engine, wouldnāt they have shown the RE engine logo at the beginning of the reveal?
Personally, it looks UNREAL to me
If you get the pun
Serious question: when was the last time Capcom released a PS5 exclusive game? My understanding is they been doing so hot since Monster Hunter World and RE7 exploded those two IPs into popularity that they donāt feel the pressure to take on exclusivity deals (unlike Square Enix that finds themselves constantly stumbling profit wise, or Bethesda that REALLY was struggling before selling.)
I doubt this one will be locked on PS5.
@anoyonmus why would Capcom give money to Epic for Unreal when they have an amazing in-house engine already?
@Tharsman it doesn't show the RE engine logo at the beginning so I am assuming its UE or a different engine.
Not a fan of street fighter but If it was playstation exclusive Sony would've announced it that being said I hope it is just for the angry reactions from people that were happy about the Bethesda / Activision buyouts
Some leaks showed that there are indeed Xbox One and Series X|S builds in pre-release. Hoping it stays at launch as well.
Capcom has had a very successful generation in general so I think it wouldn't make sense to sign an exclusivity deal for SF6.
@anoyonmus I get it LOL. Well, not necessarily because RE Engine is theirs so they don't have to declare anything. If it was Unreal, they'd have to state it. Yes, I think it's RE Engine.
I think that SF6 will be multiplatform. If it was a Sony exclusive it would have been revealed and it has been said that the PS4 exclusivity slowed SFV down and the PC version was more popular.
I hope it wil be also on xbox this time around and then the graphics are impressive if they are exactly the way we see them in that teaser trailer i was not a huge fan of street fighter v hope they put some input feedback on the controller this time around. Finger cross
I'd like to see it on Xbox but I won't hold my breath. I suspect Sony have secured some sort of exclusivity.
@Banjo- fair enough
but they never said anything about the engine yet so we wait and see
@anoyonmus Yes, we don't know but when I watched the trailer, Ryu's skin looked RE Engine to me, Resident Evil VII to be more specific. I don't care as long as it comes to Xbox! š
I'm also intrigued about the future of SFV, if it will get a new-gen version and if it will be included in a future collection. I doubt that Capcom is going to leave the game stuck on Sony's platfoms indefinitely.
@stinkyx
Im really sorry, I know I shouldn't laugh, but I did. Soooo dirty!
@Banjo- It wasn't just a money hat. Sony helped develop it.
@Rafie No, they didn't. They paid part of the marketing and tournaments costs.
As @anoyonmus said on NL, the Street Fighter-Minecraft collaboration has just been made and Microsoft owns Minecraft. Interestingly, It includes Luke, the last SFV character and the first SFVI character besides Ryu.
https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2022/02/capcom-street-fighter-skin-pack-added-to-minecraft-as-dlc
@Banjo- hmm you know
Since capcom can't put SF6 on Switch and the Switch can't run SF6 for sure, MAYBE just a SLIGHT maybe, they will put SF5 on Switch instead.
Also maybe to prepare for the release, they could put SF5 on Xbox too
But I doubt it would happen but it would be cool though.
Also it would be dumb of Capcom to exclude Ryu from SFVI
@anoyonmus Anything is possible, the truth is that the Minecraft-Street Fighter collaboration trailer highlights Ryu and Luke so either V or VI are coming to Xbox and maybe Switch.
@Banjo- this indicates a lot of things. Luke and Ryu in a Minecraft SF pack. Minecraft which was on PS, Xbox, Nintendo and many more. SFV was not on Switch and Xbox
this means some things
1. SFVI will release on Xbox (not Switch most likely)
2. SFV will release on Nintendo Switch and Xbox (or just one of them)
Surely, the Switch can handle SFV right? Its a 2016 game after all.
@anoyonmus Yes mate, I think you are right š.
@Banjo- yup.
Also Sony had no part in developing this game right? Just marketing?
@anoyonmus Yes, the marketing, the tournaments and the "same vision about fighting games". Street Fighter V was developed by Capcom and Dimps.
@Banjo- so just a partnership then?
Damn, I hope they put SFV on Switch and Xbox too because its been too long tbh
@anoyonmus Exactly that, a partnership for getting money from Sony for ads and tournaments. Also at that time Xbox was not popular and was focused on its own exclusives such as Killer Instinct.
@Banjo- thats right. I remember that Capcom didn't have a lot of money back then for SFV. RE6 and many of their games at that time weren't well received.
If I remember correctly, Capcom went to Microsoft first for SFV but MS refused. Sony later went to accept the partnership and rest is history.
That being said, MS should bring back Killer Instinct.
And SFV needs to come to Xbox and Switch too (had to say it, sry)
@Banjo- Yes they did. It's been widely known for years now. Nothing new. The development costs were covered by Sony. Which is why it was exclusive. We've seen other platforms have marketing rights and such and still be multiplat.
I hope it's on a system I own. Be it Switch or Xbox.
@Ashadelo i mean xbox bought Bethesda and Activision. Thats pretty dirty right there.
@Rafie No, you are wrong. Sony only paid part of the marketing and tournament costs and Capcom gave console exclusivity in return, confirmed by Capcom. The game was developed by Capcom and Dimps and the development was not funded by Sony and that's why it was released for Windows at launch.
@Rmg0731 Activision group was looking for other buyers before Microsoft accepted. Activision group and Zenimax wanted to be acquired.
@Would_you_kindly The staff working at Activision group is happier now. What is the benefit of Sony moneyhatting Capcom and Square Enix? Are you happier because it's more difficult for Xbox players to play Sony and Capcom games? Very nice of you.
@anoyonmus Correct, Capcom is doing great now so it makes sense that all games are going to be multiplatform. The weird thing is the name, Street Fighter 6 and not Street Fighter VI. Resident Evil 6's sequel is Resident Evil VII. Weird.
@Banjo- Then let me stand corrected on the development. I meant that Sony co funded the game. That is a fact. I invite you to research it. It's why it was exclusive to PS4 and PC.
Nope, you're still wrong. Capcom + Dimps: manpower, development. Sony: marketing deal, advertisements, tournaments.
@Banjo- are you happy because it's more difficult for playstation players to play zenimax games ? It works both ways don't applaud one company for gatekeeping & then bitch about another one doing it
@Banjo- would be multiplatform unless Nintendo or Sony pays timed exclusivity for a product. But usually it will be multiplatform later on
@Banjo- what did Would You Kindly say btw?
Also letās count how many times Sony moneyhatted Square Enix. Itās a lot
Would_you_kindly wrote:
You are the one bitching. I'm not happy that Sony players can't play Xbox games. The only thing I've said is that Zenimax and Activision group wanted to be acquired and the staff working at Activision group were suffering so that situation can't be compared to moneyhatting third parties such as Capcom and Square Enix which is what Sony do and Sony fanboys being happy about it, just to annoy Xbox players.
@anoyonmus This:
Would_you_kindly wrote:
@Banjo- I see.
First of all, both Bethesda and Activision were both suffering. MS needed Bethesda for more 1st party exclusives and honestly although I am not a fan of consolidation, I think MS and Bethesda could do good. I am not happy about it but I think they can work well together
As for Activision, I am pretty sure MS said that Activision games wonāt be exclusive to Xbox and PC and will still come to PlayStation and Nintendo
Also
āJust to get angry reactions from people who were happy about the Bethesda and Activision buyoutā
That is a console war and fan boy mindset there that he is saying.
Not you Banjo btw
@Banjo- and whenever Xbox and Nintendo get something nice or they do moneyhatting, The Sony fanboys just get mad and talk about how this hurts gamers and that timed exclusivity shouldnāt be done and those fanboys are also ok with Sony moneyhatting and hurting gamers but they have a problem whenever Xbox or Nintendo do it
@anoyonmus Yep, thanks. Zenimax/Bethesda are happier now because they have money and time to polish their games and we know that Activision Blizzard and co. were looking for buyers before Microsoft accepted the offer. Interestingly, yes, Microsoft have stated that they'll support PS5 but since their game business is focused on Game Pass and they acquire studios in order to increase Game Pass value, I don't know what that support means exactly.
anoyonmus wrote:
That's right, that's a very selfish and hypocritical stance. They criticise Game Pass but not Playstation Spartacus, they hate Microsoft and Nintendo for getting exclusive games but they are fine with Sony moneyhatting Square Enix and Capcom, even if it means having less money for their own projects/studios.
@Banjo- exactly.
Also Remember that Astral Chain and FE 3 Houses got review bombed for being a Switch exclusive.
This is just so dumb. Games should be multiplatform no matter what unless if itās 1st party. Sony moneyhatting a lot of games just hurts a lot of people and also gets them mad.
@anoyonmus Exactly, the money spent on moneyhatting is money wasted on games that they don't own, just to keep those games from a certain platform for as long as possible. It's regulated elsewhere but not on consoles, unfortunately. It's unfair competition.
@BomberBlur07 where is that information by any chance?
Send link if possible
@Banjo- exactly
@anoyonmus I don't want to break rules so I don't think I can post it.
Plus, it's from 2020, quite old.
@BomberBlur07 oh ok
@BomberBlur07 I don't think that posting a link related to the thread breaks the rules.
@Banjo- No you are the one that is wrong on this. Sony co funded the game. This is nothing new sir! It is why it was exclusive in the first place.
@Banjo- Capcom took down the original tweet, they may come after us too. After all, it was an unauthorised leak.
@Rafie You don't have a clue and what you are saying doesn't make any sense but I already explained it to you several times, so I guess that you just don't want to admit that you're wrong and I'm no longer wasting my time on you.
@BomberBlur07 I see. All the clues seem to indicate that it's multiplatform! š
@Banjo- But remember, Nick said it was money hatted "a year ago". A year ago is 2021, but the leak dates back to 2020. Who knows.
@Banjo- You're the one that has no clue. Please tell me how Sony co funding the development of Street Fighter 5 makes no sense. That statement from you alone is ignorant. It is WHY it was exclusive. Maybe you should admit that you were misinformed and keep it moving. I will agree that I won't waste anymore time on you being wrong and refusing to believe otherwise. Good day...
I see. Thanks for the clarification.
