Now that we know GTA 6 is, officially, in development over at Rockstar Games, the news got us thinking about where we'd like the next game to take place.
We've seen New York a few times now in the form of Liberty City, as well L.A making multiple appearances as Los Santos. These have become iconic GTA locations over the years, but to be honest, we'd love to see something new for the next instalment.
But, we want to know where you would like to see GTA 6 take place.
Vote in the poll, and let us know if we've forgotten your chosen location in the comments below.

Japan, Tokyo specifically.
Anyone who says they want the next game to go back to a place they already went to is a bad person. Always move forward and go to new places.
Perhaps I'm biased, but I'd love to see GTA in Glasgow, Scotland. Considering all the violence and drugs, it would be perfect.
@OliverOwen - GTA V showed that going back is OK, when there is a huge gap in the time period for the setting.
IMO, it will be in Vice City. Look at how they can label it:
GTA VI:CE CITY...
There's no way they would leave the US setting, it is key to the game since the 3D Universe. I could see GTA Americas though, with travel between the US, Canada and Mexican cities.
Tokyo would be pretty sick
Blackpool. 100% guaranteed.
@Snake_V5 didn’t see yours. Agreed wholeheartedly. This franchise needs to go international.
Medellín, Colombia.
Portray a story involving a Colombian cartel, Colombian police, US military personnel (who are actually stationed in colombia to help fight drug cartels), and the innocent bystanders caught up in the South American drug war. Aesthetically it's a beautiful city with a lot of different types of architecture and features that would translate well to a video game as well.
Anywhere but America. Again. 🙄
London is calling!
Sydney
Have a character named Robbo wearing a pair of stubbies and thongs, wrestling blowup croc dolls, doing the whole that's not a knife shtick while castrating blokes and throwing their shrivelled shrimps on the bbq. Shazza can be his nagging missus drinking goonbags off the hills hoist.
I'd preorder that in a heartbeat.
A return to Miami in the 80s.
Sorry but gta has to be in America. I'd be up for Chicago
@Snake_V5 jup
What about going to Carcer City? (where Manhunt is set)
If I may speak a bit generally about this topic, I don't think it really makes sense to pick just any setting for a GTA game. It's not like Forza Horizon where you can have the game take place in all kinds of locations such as Australia, Mexico, Japan etc. GTA is a game about crime and chaos, which is why the American settings have worked well. I see that some people have mentioned South America in the comments and I agree with that as well, that would be a fitting setting. But I don't agree with stuff like Japan because that's not a country where (unorganised) crime and chaos is common. It would be genuinely weird to play as a Japanese person, walk up to a car and steal it. Doesn't make sense at all to me and I wouldn't even be surprised if Japan took offense to GTA taking place in their country because it's a very peaceful nation.
So personally, either a North American or a South American setting would be nice. I'd love to see a return to Miami in the 80s. Maybe have a second location in Colombia considering how huge drug cartels were during that period. I think it would be a lot of fun to do missions for people like Pablo Escobar.
Birmingham/Black Country UK 😂
Yeah I know will never happen, but can just imagine the accents of the characters
Mission Hills, Kansas
@LuckyKant I am not saying they have to leave the US, but going back to an already used place is boring. I want a completely new visual and city. Something we havnt seen before.
Not London because I really want sony to revive the getaway & I wouldn't want to get bored of the setting las Venturas would be cool
@xMightyMatt14x Just out of curiosity, what is special about this location. I google mapped it and its just like a decent sized neighborhood with nothing more than houses and a golf course or two. I mean no disrespect to you or anyone living there, just genuinely curious about why you chose that location.
@R1spam couldn’t agree more. Been wanting them to missal a city after Chicago for years now!
I think somewhere new, and I do agree with alot of these comments, it needs to be somewhere where stuff like this actually does happen. I can't see them taking it to Asia, I'd bet another US city as that's where the genuinely seem to go. Maybe try and broad the horizons and include various locations, that would technically be the next step.
I'll be going with the popular vote on this one. We've already seen a return to Liberty City and San Andreas. It's time go go home to Vice City.
@OliverOwen I was just goofing a little. I chose a random small town in the heart of the US. Legitimately it should be a major city.
@sadmapboi Haha grew up near Glasgow would be amazing.
Dubai or Tokyo
Moscow, London, Dubai, Taipei, or Washington DC.
Vice City. I don't believe they plan to ever create a new city and will just keep redoing Liberty City, San Andreas and Vice City.
I would love GTA to be set outside the US but satirizing American culture is the main aspect of the series so it probably needs to stay put. It's been 15 years since we last saw Liberty City and current gen could really do it justice given the recent Matrix tech demo. I'd love to see a multi city adventure with perhaps Miami aka Vice City and flights to a fictional Colombian city? Also, LONDON!
Carcer City which I think was based off Chicago, or Boston
Naples, Italy.
Boston, MA and it’s suburbs.
I chose Pittsburgh from the “other” option. It’s where I’m from, it would be interesting. I doubt they would place it here, but anywhere new would be great.
To options for me:
South America. Rio de Janerio would be perfect.
Asia. Hong Kong in the 80's would be amazing.
I wouldn’t mind if they did something like Chicago or London, but maybe a game back in like 1920/1930’s. Were things seemed more “wholesome” then, but there was definitely crime and gangster type behavior back then. Maybe it’s not right for GTA but it’s something I’d like to play.
I think Australia would be a cool place to go..
I'll throw a rock in the Toronto bucket myself.
I feel like every gta game should stay within the cities. I would like to see Vice City again. It just makes sense for them to base it there.
@Snake_V5 Tokyo is just bursting from the seams with opportunity.
Somewhere new and fresh, ideally not America again.
Though i'd let a neon Vice City in the 80s slide.
I vote for Cardiff. Its about time the series takes a deep dive into Welsh politics. Hoping for 700 hours of story content to put Dying Light’s 500 to shame!
