The next Fable game is one of the most mysterious projects within Xbox Game Studios right now. So far there's been a single teaser trailer, but apart from that, nothing else is really known about this anticipated release.
That's what makes any news about it that much more exciting and with this in mind, it's been discovered Amie Loake - a former producer at Sumo Digital and ex-Lionhead assistant producer on the cancelled co-op game Fable Legends - has signed on with Playground Games (also known for the Forza Horizon series).
In a message over on Twitter, the new Playground employee revealed she would be joining the new Fable team as a senior producer.
"I'm very happy to announce that next month I will be joining @WeArePlayground on the #Fable team as a Senior Producer! I'm so excited to be part of bringing this franchise, which is so close to my heart, to the new generation. I hope we can make my fellow Lions proud"
It's interesting to see more Lionhead employees joining Playground - especially after last year's Xbox documentary series revealed how Microsoft made some big missteps with Fable developer.
The new Fable has reportedly been in development for at least four years now, and there are rumours about it being released in 2023.

I cannot wait to play this. As well as other Xbox game studios titles.
Fable is amazing. I can only imagine what a cherished reboot could be.
@Medic_Alert Having seen what they can do with Forza Horizon, my only concern is them 'nailing' that classic Fable humour - and its going to take more than just being able to kick a chicken.
They are 'experienced' in developing an Open World 'Playground' and whilst it is primarily a 'driving' game, there are a LOT of similar systems. Instead of upgrading 'Cars' and those 'changes' impacting the Physics, the handling etc, they could impact the character stats. They have experience in customisation, character modelling & animation etc. Instead of a 'car', you could have a horse and/or Cart to 'drive' around. They even have 'experience' at third and first person 'views' too with Racing and AI with multiple other 'vehicles' on the roads too which could be adapted for NPC's and Enemies...
@Medic_Alert I do think that the 'feel' of Fable is predominantly down to that very British humour. I think the Artstyle of the Past was more a 'reflection' of the limitations of Hardware at that time.
Their CGi trailer captured a lot of the 'Whimsy', the Charm, whilst still looking 'fantastical' but more 'real' than cartoony. I don't really want a 'cartoony' Fable myself, I want a more 'grown' up game but still keeping that very British humour that influences every aspect of the world. That comes in with the story, the characters, the NPC's and interactions within that world. Novigrad in the Witcher 3 has its 'feel' because of the sounds, the characters and the types of interactions, background NPC's etc all enforcing that 'ambience'. If they get 'Fable' right, they could have a city similar to Novigrad, that more 'realistic' look, but the Ambience would be very different.
As I said, I think Playground have the technical ability to make a great open world RPG and my one concern is whether they can nail that 'Humour' too as it permeates through EVERYTHING and is most important to creating villages, towns, characters, story, missions/side quests etc etc and creating the right ambience.
Open world gaming now has to be the hardest to nail as it has been about for years and can easily get stale during gameplay, then there is usually accusations of copying existing ideas as well.
Good luck to play ground as FH is the best of the best, hope they nail it but keeping my expectations in check, like I do with most games lately.
Woof, sounds like this game is still 4 years out...
@Rural-Bandit Yep, this thing will be special.
If they keep the humour and get some decent british talent in it I'll b happy , the game I'm most looking forward to even though still seems like a long wait
I’m wary of what is to come but optimistic until proven otherwise lol.
In the meantime I need a remastered Fable 2 GOTY, the current version looks awful on a large TV!
Probably my #1 Microsoft game series. Hope it's a good one.
Q) Are you looking forward to finally getting your hands on this game?
A) Very much so; hoping we'll get to see some of it this year, particularly if the rumoured 2023 release is true. The reboot of Fable was the final thing to convince me to get an Xbox Series X day one in preparation for it and I'm glad to hear there are some former Lionhead studios employees working on it.
