Update: Well, we've got some bad news and some good news. The bad news is that Cyberpunk 2077 seemingly isn't coming to Xbox Game Pass today as suggested by the Microsoft Store, but the good news is that if you don't own it yet, you can check out a free five-hour trial of the new Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S version right now.
The trial will be on the Xbox Store for a month — so you've got from now until March 15th to give it a go.
In addition, Cyberpunk 2077 is 50% off on Xbox for the next week, so you can at least pick it up at a discount.
Original story: Big potential news on the horizon! It looks like Cyberpunk 2077 might be added to today's announcement of Xbox Game Pass titles, as the game has been spotted with a Game Pass mention on the Microsoft Store.
As pointed out by multiple people, the store page for Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox mentions that the game is "cloud enabled with Game Pass Ultimate", which could theoretically be a mistake, but it's showing up in multiple regions.

In addition, an early tweet from the Dutch Xbox account has revealed that Cyberpunk 2077's free Xbox Series X and Series S upgrade will indeed be launching today, and will contain a free five-hour trial for players on next-gen systems.
We'll get official confirmation about all of this in just a few hours as part of CDPR's special Cyberpunk 2077 livestream.

People have seen the game pass branding on cyberpunk in Russia and South Korea as well. I think its coming.
Thank heavens. I was gonna buy a physical copy after the upgrade. Game Pass to the rescue again 💚
Well that's irritating, I've had it for the PS5 for over a year waiting for the upgrade! 😂 Ah well
I already own the game when I was conned ... Oopppss purchased it on release but hopefully the bugs are sorted and for those who don't own it enjoy it on GP ,I enjoyed it mostly but had to wait for a fix for my last achievement ...it only took 2 months lol
I'm sure this was rumoured a few months ago wasn't it?
If true this will tempt me into having another go. I owned it on PS and wouldn't have spent more on it.
@PapaGlitch I have owned it on Series X since launch as well but have not played a single frame of it because i was waiting for the upgrade. Oh well, glad to support a company.
@PapaGlitch Same here, my selfish hope is that the PS5 version is slightly better optimized, takes up less SSD space and makes use of the dual sense controller in some cool way. Happy for my fellow Series X/S/One players though!
You only get 5 hours with the Series X upgrade? Or am I reading it wrong?
@Snake_V5 I think it will just be free to play for 5 hours to everyone regardless of gamepass status or if you own the game.
@Snake_V5 for the free next gen trial, yes. I reckon they're doing this to portray confidence in this upgrade.
If Cyberpunk comes out optimised on Series X/S today and gets added to Game Pass as well as Cloud Gaming, then I might resubscribe today. Would love to play the best version on my base Xbox One through Cloud Gaming.
@OliverOwen would you be entitled to a refund due to zero hours played. Worth asking Microsoft if its released on game pass.
@PapaGlitch Haha, same! I'll probs still play on PS5 for the platinum. Gamerscore isn't something I'm too fussed about.
@Rural-Bandit I'm largely the same now, but when I bought Cyberpunk I only had the PS5. I really should have just returned it last year, but ah well. You live and you learn!
@frabbit I'm not fussed about Gamerscore either, but I'm into MS rewards (just pre-ordered Elden Ring for nothing but trading in my points), so like playing multiplatform games on Xbox so I get those bonus 50 points every day I earn an achievement!
Nooooooo way!!!!!! I dared to dream of this yesterday for this to actually happen!!!
And people thought February was going to be a bad GP month lol 😂
Also, a little cheeky from MS to announce a big Game Pass title like this (if it's true) with the next gen upgrade coming day 1, the day before the eagerly awaited Horizon PS game comes out.
@OliverOwen same 🤣
@Blaa I just checked and there is no option for a refund on my account unfortunately. Oh well, lesson learned.
@Rural-Bandit oh don't misunderstand me, I do the exact same now that I have my series X!
Honestly it would be a bit of a weird time to launch today unless they are purposefully trying to bury it. Within 10 days of two of the biggest releases of the year? They'd do far better to wait a few weeks for a bit of clearer air. I can't imagine many publications will re-review the game in this window but wait until a bit later in March when the big releases ease up a bit and there's a better chance.
@OliverOwen main thing you will get to play hopefully the upgraded and better version of the game👍
Loooool a trial? Wow
Actually perfect. Just enough time for most people to conclude it's not for them and not throw away money (or get tangled in the refund web).
Downloading the trial as at work, then hopefully it will work as the full game when I put the disc in.
Lol nah. But I'm sure this will be a great thing for many.... just not for me.
It makes sense for them to try to get some more sales out of it with this upgrade. The fact Witcher was on GP for so long tells me this will get there in time.
I'll wait for the inevitable GP drop before playing, can't see that much improvement from the video.
Think it's a bit sus that they only allow trials on the next gen hardware. I think every game should have a trial.
At least is not a play for free during this weekend... I will try it on Series X.
