Update: And just like that, it's now available! Shadow Man Remastered can be purchased from the Xbox Store for £16.74 / $19.99, and as mentioned previously, it's also Xbox One X Enhanced.
You can check out the official description below:
- Shadow Man Remastered (Xbox Store) - £16.74 / $19.99
Shadow Man: Remastered is a complete overhaul of the classic game with restored, previously cut content!
He is coming, stalking criminals in the spirit world and the real world. A possessed man is coming, a voodoo mask in his chest and lines of power in his back. Shadow Man is coming, trailing evil from Liveside to Deadside. To stop an apocalypse. To save your soul.
Original story: Shadow Man Remastered's console port has been in the works for some time, as developer Nightdive Studios continues to re-work a selection of '90s classics. We've been a little in the dark on when this one would actually release on Xbox, but it looks like it's out very soon indeed.
An Xbox store page for Shadow Man Remastered has just gone live, labelled with a January 13th release date. That's just two days away, and the release date now syncs up with the PlayStation 4 version. The listing also provides some other interesting details on what to expect on Xbox.
First up, this release looks like it'll be an Xbox One application, rather than a native Xbox Series X|S version. It's playable across generations though of course, and is Xbox One X enhanced, meaning Series X players will see those improvements too.
The remaster will also feature some extra content that was cut from the original N64 version. Three additional levels will be included: "Summer Camp, Florida" (Day and Night), "Salvage Yard, Mojave Desert" (Day and Night), and "Asylum Station 2 - Experimentation Rooms".
We're happy to see the Xbox version launching so soon, even a few days ahead of the Switch port.

Got it for my Dreamcast again last year I think but couldn't play it the day I bought it because the aerial is f'd. Hopefully at least 60 frames on Series S like the Dreamcast version.
Brilliant news. Absolutely loved this back in the day on the N64, the opening scene with Moonlight Sonata playing really set the tone for what was to come. Such a great game.
After just getting Turok 2 and working my way through it then comes this news! Absolutely loved this back in the day and will no doubt be buying it. First I'd heard of this. Fingers crossed it comes out on game pass or I'll probably buy on PS5 as I have some credit left on there.
So.. is it coming to Gamepass or nah?
This a nice surprise. I remember playing this as a kid back in the ‘90s. Anyone remember Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver? Watching that video above reminded me of it.
Whoa I’ve just only realised that Shadow Man was developed by Acclaim Studios Teesside which is where I’m from. All that time I’ve know the game and not realised that 🤯
Just had a look at the achievement list, prepare to save scum for beating the game with zero deaths because you won't be doing it legitimately. It's been out for quite a while on PC so hopefully there's a collectible guide out there, I assume the new levels will have some that weren't in the original.

@MaccaMUFC I love the Legacy of Kain games! That’s a series I haven’t thought about in quite some time.
I played it on the Dreamcast when it came out on it.
Not seeing any improvements at all, still looks like an N64 game but with a full price tag. Pass
@MyThoughts31 That video doesn't represent the game well at all. It runs in 4K 60fps with lots of subtle improvements like per pixel lighting, ambient occlusion, antialiasing etc.
Thing to remember is it's a remaster, not a remake. There's a world of difference between the two.
@BleedingDreamer me too! Don't think it will age that well though...
@mythoughts31 $20 is a full price tag?
@Deljo it hasn't aged well from the looks of it even with the remastering.
Looks exactly how I remembered it on Dreamcast.
@XxEvilAshxX 16.99 for a 20 year old game which is worth about 3 quid physical is way overpriced.
