So, yesterday we learnt that developer Certain Affinity is reportedly working on a 'Monster Hunter style' Xbox exclusive. Frankly, that sounds awesome, but it's not all the team is seemingly developing for Xbox.
Windows Central backed up that initial rumour via their "own separate sources", and then went on to reveal something new. That very same developer is possibly working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite, which the site says could be a battle royale.
"Certain Affinity has long been a close partner of Microsoft, working on various Halo titles from Halo 2, through to the Master Chief Collection to Halo Infinite. I've received some separate hints that Certain Affinity may also be working on a new game mode for Halo Infinite, which could be a take on the popular battle royale formula or something completely different entirely."
It could also be another mode entirely, but it's likely to be a big undertaking if the mode isn't being directly developed by 343. The map design and mechanics needed for a battle royale are something completely different to what's already in Halo Infinite, so it makes sense on that front.
We're quite excited by this one. Battle royale may be getting a little tiresome generally, but one tied directly into Halo Infinite's amazing mechanics? We'll take that any day of the week. We're already thinking about those grappling hook plays...

They are already testing some of the mechanics with the attrition gamemode. (Revive and Ring of Death)
The more gamemodes the better!
I really hope it's not. I love Halo because it's not another Battle Royale. Halo is an arena shooter, keep it that way.
I would definitely play it, not my fav multiplayer game mode, but I would give it a try. But IMHO, there are more pertinent issues to be addressed by the devs, like giving the ability to opt-out from crossplay in the game settings; improve the anti-cheat system or even making it more easy to report players for cheating.
@Korgon I mean, if they add the BR mode, you can alway just, you know, not que for it
@Vepra
Well yeah duh but I'm worried the Battle Royale would then get all the attention as far as updates go while the rest of the game would get left behind as far as support goes. That just happened to COD recently. We have so many other options for fans of that style MP while classic arena shooters are kind of a rare breed these days.
Maybe I'm just part of that dying breed but I just can't get into Battle Royale games and I'd like Halo to not go down that path.
Didnt they already say they werent doing this? Lying Microsoft.
So 343 have lied again?
@isturbo1984 Back in July 2018 the comment was made about no battle royale, since then multiple battle royale games exploded in popularity and the genre doesn't seem to be slowing down.
@Grumblevolcano I mean, I know why they are doing it. I didn't think for a second corporate greed would prevent them from lying to gamers, lol.
Halo warzone
i'd rather they add firefight mode.
