EA has confirmed today that beloved developer Respawn (Apex Legends, Titanfall) is working on three new games in the Star Wars universe, including a much-anticipated sequel to 2019's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Let's start with that one. EA says the team is actively working on the next Star Wars Jedi title as we speak, and it's being led by Game Director Stig Asmussen, who was also Game Director on the first game.
Meanwhile, another team is working on a first-person shooter led by Peter Hirschmann, who has worked on a variety of Star Wars projects in the past (including as Executive Producer on the original Star Wars Battlefront games) — while the other is a strategy game being developed by newly formed studio Bit Reactor in collaboration with Respawn.
Here's what Douglas Reilly, VP of Lucasfilm Games had to say about today's announcement:
“We are excited to continue working with the superbly talented developers at Respawn. They have demonstrated excellence in telling epic Star Wars stories along with best-in-class gameplay across different genres and we are looking forward to bringing more amazing experiences to the galaxy far, far away.”
Just recently, it was reported that the sequel to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order could be releasing as soon as late 2022 (but more likely sometime in 2023), and that it would feature "returning characters from its predecessor, some with larger roles, along with exciting existing Star Wars characters that weren’t featured in the first instalment."

I would rather have titanfall 3.
I could see a studio organically working on 2 games. A small team splintering off to do a side project or to get the ball rolling on something upcoming while the rest of the team has their nose to the grindstone with their main project. I'm no dev... but 3 games, all being Star Wars?? Seems like EA is trying to "bear-hug" Respawn to death like with their other studios.
Jedi Fallen Order was brilliant where it mattered. Looking forward to the sequel where they can easily fix some of the small missteps.
Titanfall 2 is one of my favorites of all time, it's sad that Titanfall 3 is dead....
BUT...Respawn making another futuristic FPS game (with fun movement options according to reports) because Star Wars is attached to it is the best case scenario for us Titanfall fans.
Respawn is the best thing happening at EA right now.
That's awesome, Fallen Order 2 is definitely welcome! Loved Titanfall 2 so hopefully they make s great FPS camping in the starwars universe...they have mechs in any of the Star Wars lore by chance?
Fallen Order was a great game, but if I am being honest... the main character is so goofy and kind of annoying that I hope we get to be play the next game as someone else.
Milk it baby ..milk it
Fallen Order is pretty good, and I'm not even a big SW fan overall. It really should have shed it's Dark Souls-Lite campfire thing, it didn't help the game at all, and it had other issues, but generally it's a pretty solid game. And a pretty short game that felt like a smaller project (and was priced appropriately) so I don't think it's too hard to believe Respawn is working on multiple projects if they're picking up some smaller projects in there.
I wanted to like Fallen Order but between the wooden combat and janky platforming it never clicked for me. That woeful map didn't help much either. Hopefully the next game is better.
Love Titanfall 2, I found Fallen order quite fun as a small fan of the Star Wars universe. I only played it on Gamepass unlike Titanfall which I bought. But Respawn are good at what they do and any new game from them is a welcome thing to look forward to.
