If you've been in the market for a Seagate 1TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X and S, you might be interested to know that Microsoft has temporarily discounted it in the UK, now sitting at a price of £194.99.
You'll find this price at a variety of retailers, but the most interesting part for Microsoft Rewards users is that it's also discounted at the Microsoft Store — so you can put some of your hard-earned points towards it if you want to.
- Seagate 1TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X|S (Microsoft Store)
Don't forget that there are two more variants of the Seagate Expansion Card slowly rolling out to retailers in 512GB and 2TB versions as well — although these don't appear to be hitting the official Microsoft Store until late January 2022.
We've had access to the 1TB version for a while now, and can confirm that it does a great job if you're looking a storage option with exactly the same speed and performance as the Xbox Series X and S's internal drives. If you just want extra storage for your Xbox One games, you could always get a standard HDD or SSD instead.

Personally going to wait. This VERY briefly dropped to around £160 in sales so hoping it will do this again.
Additionally when 2TB, 500GB and hopefully other brands release there might be a price drop.
Though I have almost 160,000 points = approx £135 which makes it tempting!
How generous of them... 😂 I'm lucky that I only play a few games at a time it's very rare I'll have something sat there after I've finished playing it
I picked up one for £160 a few weeks back and will make do with that for now until the price per TB drops - either in time or with 3rd Party options available driving more competitive pricing.
I was finally able to purchase the new 2tb 2 weeks ago.
@FraserG Series X in stock at Amazon UK right now
https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B08H93GKNJ
@Microbius 100% more than 2 minutes. We're at least a few hours now that HAS to be a record.
@Microbius Arghhh! DDOS-ER You'll bring down the site
Was tempted to get this but still happy to potter about with my 8tb external for now. Have got £160 worth of rewards points I'm sitting on for some games next year.
I already bought one earlier in the year when I received a bonus from work. I’d happily buy another when the price comes down significantly.
I don't see myself ever buying one. I have around 10 games installed at the moment and still around 400GB of free space. What do you guys put on that SSD lol.
@gollumb82 same. I have a buddy with one and he’s filled it with games he never plays. Don’t quite understand it myself but each to their own. We both have 1GB download too so it’s not like it takes long to reinstall something. For someone with slower internet I totally get it.
I started with an S before I got my X so I shelled out for one along with the S.
The size of games made it mandatory an its still just too small lol.
I really want to get one for my brother and his S but its just really steep during this time.
got the 4tb Xbox Seagate (90 euro's) i got with the series s now connected to the later acquired series x, moving stuff around isn't that bad
Managed to get one for £155 from Amazon Spain a while back.
As someone who has a Series X and Series S, the fact this is hot-swappable is a life saver.
I brought one when I got my console, yes it was expensive but it's the only one I will need to buy over the life time of the console (unless it fails) so actually it's a worthwhile investment.
Its been that price (ish) on Amazon for months.
@gollumb82 I use internal for newer and optimised games, I have a USB C SSD that I use for playing non optimised games/older games and a HDD plugged in for everything else (storage mainly, not playing)
I tend to just download games I think I might play at some point and chuck it on the 5Tb HDD, and when I want to play i i'll shift it to either the Internal or the external SSD, depending.
I'd say until there were a load of huge games that require internal storage, there's no real need for it yet.
I bought myself one of these, when they first became available.
They are much cheaper now, though. Perhaps I should have waited? I think that everybody should buy one of these Expansion Cards eventually. Unless they release a newer Series X, with a bigger internal hard drive?
The 1TB expansion card has 920GB of usable space, so it more than doubles the storage capacity of the Series X, as the internal HDD is only 802GB.
The real benefit is that you can actually store and launch “Series X Enhanced” games from it.
Copying files onto the Expansion card is also very, very fast.
Most of my Xbox One games are stored on the external (usb) hard drive. This is a Seagate 5TB drive (with 4.5TB of usable space). The contents of this drive are 52 games, and it is 36% full.
The only drawback is that copying files to-and-from the USB hard drive is painfully slow.
