It's time for another batch of Free Play Days titles! More games are available to play for free this weekend for Xbox Live Gold members, and they're ready to download right now.
So, what's on offer? We've got the epic Assassin's Creed Odyssey, fun summer sports title Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, and Call of Duty: Vanguard is also having a free multiplayer weekend — separate from the Free Play Days promotion, but we still wanted to include it here nonetheless.
- Assassin's Creed Odyssey
- Call of Duty: Vanguard — Free Multiplayer Weekend
- Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 — The Official Video Game
As always, remember that you'll require Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to take advantage of the official Free Play Days titles. They will be live from today until late on Sunday, December 19th, aside from the separate Call of Duty: Vanguard free weekend which doesn't end until Tuesday, December 21st.
PSA: You can access the Vanguard free weekend by heading to (or searching for) the dedicated page on the Xbox Store.
The majority of these games are on sale as well, with Assassin's Creed Odyssey available at up to 75% off (multiple editions are available), and Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 — The Official Video Game available at 50% off. Call of Duty: Vanguard is also included as part of the Xbox Countdown Sale 2021 selection.
Will you be trying out any of these games this weekend? Let us know below.

I was gonna be playing The Gunk this weekend but I guess I’ll have to try out some of these first.
I really appreciate these free days. In my opinion, more games should do this to give us a taste.
@Kienda Agreed. I really like being able to try a game before purchasing it, and even better that it’s on sale at the same time. It looks like Odyssey is only on sale for less than 2 hours as of this comment. It’s a bit odd to me. Still, I’m excited to try it and see how it runs on my Series S. Does anyone have comments on the DLC for it?
I think thats the third time Tokyo 2020 has been on free play days. Easy achievements mostly, got something like 38/46 on the last free play weekend.
Also funny how Odyssey can give a free play weekend and you won’t even make a dent; yet Vanguard can’t offer the campaign because you would destroy it on Saturday morning.
@P3nguinprisM I loved the DLC for Odyssey but I played them after the main game so it was fairly spaced out. If you tackle it all at once you probably will be burnt out. But the Odyssey season pass is good and comes with Assassins Creed 3 Remastered (and Liberation) I think it is.
For the record, from the game and all it’s DLC, I got all 93 achievements and my Xbox timer for the game is 103 hours. So that is what you’re looking at lol.
@K1LLEGAL Thanks for all of your thoughts on it! I don’t usually power through games, so I don’t think I’ll get burnt out. I really appreciate the recommendation though, sounds like a good time.
@Kienda don't worry that much, the gunk is a short game, like 3 hours, i'm halfway done and been enjoying it a lot
@Zucaritas I’m looking forward to it. And to be honest, I don’t mind a short game.
Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 was okay game. Will have to try it again cause the price is too high to buy
