It's Game Pass day! We've got (at least) three games hitting the service today, including the previously revealed Evil Genius 2 and Mind Scanners, along with an unexpected addition in the form of Generation Zero.
Here are the new games you can download with Game Pass today:
Evil Genius 2: Console, PC, Cloud
Evil Genius 2 is a satirical spy-fi lair builder, where players take control of an Evil Genius and set their plans for world domination in motion. When it feels this good to be bad, the Forces of Justice don’t stand a chance!
Generation Zero: Console, PC, Cloud
Generation Zero is a stealth-action hybrid with a rich and rewarding world to explore and mysteries to uncover. Play alone or with up to three friends in a vast open-world map that will challenge your resourcefulness and ingenuity. Because living is winning.
Mind Scanners: Console, PC, Cloud
Mind Scanners is a retro-futuristic psychiatry simulation in which you diagnose the citizens of a dystopian metropolis. Locate a host of other-worldly characters and use arcade-style treatment devices to help them. Manage your time and resources to keep The Structure in balance. Decide if you want to keep up the system or go against.

In addition to being added to Game Pass, Generation Zero just got boosted to 60 fps as well. Sweet.
I think the only negative I can find in Game Pass is there’s too much choice!
How on Earth did I miss Generation Zero? 😮 Seems to be Horizon Zero Dawn, only less colourful and with guns. I'll be all over it this evening. Game Pass is just too good to be true.
I just got knee deep into far cry 6, but I wanna play evil Genius 2 so bad, and on top of that, 9 days time Halo is out 😫😫😫 followed by the gunk!!! 😔😏 Game pass is my sugardaddy
@gollumb82 a lad from work played it a lot when it first released. Said it was fun with friends but the world can feel very barren. That was a while ago though so it may have had some updates, I'll be checking it out at least.
Tried to finish Haven before the deadline but was forcing it so i’ve given up unfortunately. Excited for Evil Genius 2 for sure!
@c14nhl Completely agree. Just can't keep up.
But I do love the balance and the high level of curation on Game Pass. There's literally something for everyone, almost no duds, just games that may not be your jam.
I recently really enjoyed smaller titles like Unpacking, Haven, The Forgotten City and Exo-One. Titles I was probably unlikely to ever buy or play without this brilliant service. It makes my gaming life richer.
@K1LLEGAL Ah a shame. Haven was pretty good but a bit front loaded. The first 5 hours showed almost everything the game had and the last 5 were a bit samey and weaker. Still enjoyed it, very unique.
A psychiatry simulator…? How could that possibly go wrong?
@themightyant Yea don’t get me wrong. I love the concept. The gameplay is smooth and I was enjoying myself. But as you say, it becomes the same thing again and again. Also I thought I was near the end, so looked up a longplay on Youtube and realise I wasn’t even half way. If the deadline for it leaving Gamepass wasn’t today I probably would have pushed through as I enjoyed it just about enough. My fault for starting it too late to be honest! It’s been there for a year so can’t blame anyone but myself for that.
Unless they did update and vastly improve Generation Zero (the reviews are awful, and I have no interest if the world is empty and bad), I'll likely skip that. Don't have time for a game that isn't very good no matter if it's free or not. If people here say it's been much improved with updates it's received, then I will definitely reconsider as this type of game is right up my alley. I just have a lot of games to play, so I need to be picky.
Evil Genius 2 looks very intriguing though. I'll likely check that out at some point. It looks to be a nice take on the lair-building strategy games, especially since you get to be a villain. Strategy fans should check it out, as it is supposed to be pretty good.
@K1LLEGAL Honestly you didn't miss much. It IS a good game that i'd recommend but you will have seen all the best ideas it has.
Rest easy on this one.
I enjoyed Generation myself, @KilloWertz. I didn't think the world to be barren, in fact, I often found myself trying to avoid some of the higher level battles. I played with my son (he's 31, so no noob!), on a high difficulty, and the game is undoubtedly at it's best when challenging. I think if you were to go in on an easy difficulty, without the challenge, it would likely be a completely different experience. It wasn't uncommon for myself and my son to be trying to snipe enemies from a church spawn point, and being pinned down by truly hard enemies, and unable to get outside for quite some time. Much fun was had!
@K1LLEGAL Me too! I was playing it but wasn't enjoying it due to the repetitiveness, but I really liked the concept. I have it on my wishlist to finish it when it drops its price.
Evil Genius 2 looks good, but also looks like quite a big time sink...and time is something I’m a little short on these days 🙄 may give it a go after Christmas.
I've longed for a chance to play Generation Zero. I mean, who doesn't love the Swedish suburbs in the 80's? Oh, yeah, maybe me who lived through it...
@themightyant I wouldn't say their are no duds on Game Pass... I play almost every game as it is added. N yeah, they put some very sus games into Game Pass pretty much every month. But those are just games that aren't for you( or in this case, for me) and someone else with different taste may be loving it. For the amount of time I feel surprised by the very high quality of titles and lately all the games that are added the same day as their release date, has been so awesome. Xbox, please keep this up, it won't be long until everyone on Xbox will have and enjoy Game Pass
Back 4 Blood, Alien Fireteam and now Generation Zero! I wish I had more friends into coop online shooters - great stuff!
@Stoned_Patrol Yeah that's what I meant. There's always going to be titles that aren't for me or you, that's life, you won't like everything. But there are almost no objectively bad games. Basically every game on the list has a valid reason for being there.
Some may not be polished or consistent the whole way through but have a core concept or mechanic that is interesting, or different, enough to warrant inclusion. Others may only be for a small niche of gamers but that's fine too. Obviously others are far easier as they are sleeper hits or indie darlings.
I guess my point is that the curation of Game Pass is simply brilliant. Kudos to the team over there.
