With this, you can pick up the Anniversary Edition upgrade for £14.16 / $17.99 (including a 10% discount for Game Pass members), which is a pretty good deal. I had a look at this but was pretty underwhelmed by the Creation Club additions which as far as I could see were predominantly new armour and weapons that, frankly, didn't look better than the best sets in the game. (e.g. Nightingale Armor)
I know there are a few additional quests but these didn't jump out as being anything special. There's only a line or two about each, so it's hard to tell. I'd love to be proven wrong fwiw and will do a bit more research once there is more info available.
Regardless I was generally impressed with the FREE version of the update that was installed automatically. It's not much of a change from the Special Edition but it still looks great at 4K and plays at a buttery smooth 60fps. The survival mode is a nice addition, if you like that sort of immersive element. Fishing seemed a bit simple and lame, perhaps that gets harder as you progress the associated quest.
Ultimately I played for an hour to test and 5 hours later was still playing! Ah Skyrim!
TLDR: I'd check carefully to see what is in the PAID anniversary edition interests you before paying up.
I never thought I'd see Skyrim and the word 'hot' in a single sentence ever again 🤣
Wonder if this is cheaper on the Iceland market place like the Forza premium bundle was...
So, here I am, baffled once again!
I've bought the £14.16 Anniversary Edition upgrade (and the game thanked me for doing so!), but it looks like I have to then buy credits to use the Creation content. Surely that cannot be right? What's the point in buying the Anniversary upgrade, if you then have to pay to use the content anyway?
Not sure it makes sense if you have the Special Edition already.
@Fiendish-Beaver click on the buy, don't buy, it should install.
Also, I upgraded on game pass and the extra content is awesome. The new quests are fun. The armour (spell armour especially) is great. Also, grey hood is back
Thank you for your response, @Serious_Snape, but I still have to purchase all the content. If I press A on say the backpack (for example) my only option would be to then buy it with 400 credits, which I would have to buy. Am I to take it that it is free for you?
Are you able to advise me, @Flurbdurb? Am I being daft? I have bought the £14.16 Anniversary Upgrade for my Special Edition of the game, but I am then expected to buy credits in order to gain access to the Creation content (such as the backpack). Is that the way it is supposed to work, or has something gone wrong?
@Fiendish-Beaver it's free for me yeah =(
Contact Xbox support. Hopefully they can sort it out
Thank you, @SpaceSamurai. My version of the game (which I own on disc) still says Special Edition, rather than Anniversary edition. Is that the same for you? Apologies for all the questions...
@Fiendish-Beaver No need apoligise =)
Mine still says special edition. But I had to go into the creation club and saw it said buy for this many points, when I clicked on it it came up as loading, installed.
Is there a install button, I think it's Y. Try pressing it.
Maybe reinstall the game too.
Failing that definitely contact Xbox support. I'm sure they will sort it out for you.
Hopefully that helps =) if I were you I would be livid =(
Does using the mods still prevent you from earning achievements?
Thank you, @SpaceSamurai. I have sorted it now. Full game delete and re-install, and re-download of the Anniversary bit. Only took a couple of hours worth of stress...
Yes, @Dusk_Actual, which is really unfortunate as not being able to earn achievements is not something I would want to do. There are some good mods too, which makes it all the more annoying...
Played it to death 3 times on 3 different platforms. Have not got the mental capacity to go through it all again lol.
Roll on Elder Scrolls VI.
Microsoft owns Bethesda so they could always just ya know put this version on gamepaas
I haven't noticed faster loading times has anyone else? I could kind of tell visually but I and some mods on already anyway so not sure.The content is mainly what I wanted anyway.
@Fiendish-Beaver Glad you got it sorted =)
@Would_you_kindly Why?
@SpaceSamurai why not
@Would_you_kindly Money
@SpaceSamurai exactly
@Would_you_kindly So your point was just to criticise, sounds like a fun mental state your in
So am I to understand this that if I were to buy this. Even if my copy of Skyrim is from Gamepass and I cancel my subscription, I'll have the new version I'll own outright, correct?
@Fiendish-Beaver
Wait. So you have to go through creation club to get these? They're not bundled with the game?
I guess that solidifies me not buying this then. The only reason I was considering it was so I could earn achievements while playing.
But creation club disables them and I've already bought everything I want from it so it's be pointless. 🤦
@SplooshDmg Ah. I see. As I understood it was coming bundled with mods as well, which using this system would imply you'd have to download them separately which in turn will disable achievement.
If creation club is all there is, then there's really not even a reason to pick this up I guess.
Thanks for clarifying.
@themightyant - thanks for that
Helpful post - answered a few of my questions
@Fiendish-Beaver Sometimes, you don't need to reinstall the game but press the menu button on the game icon, select manage game and in the menu select the add-ons and press the install button. Then restart the console, just in case.
For someone getting into the game for the first time, is the anniversary upgrade recommended?
@InterceptorAlpha no. You need the subscription to maintain access to the base game. Once you cancel it, you would need to purchase it.
