The popular MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV has still yet to make its way to Xbox despite releasing for PC and PlayStation systems many years ago, but its director has suggested talks are "positive" with Microsoft at the moment.
In an interview with Easy Allies, Naoki Yoshida explained that the discussions with Xbox are going in a "positive-like tone", and that he's "hoping that the timing will be very soon that I will have some kind of update to the players."
"I feel bad for saying the same thing every time, but we are still in discussions with Microsoft, and I feel like our discussions are going in a positive-like tone. I don't want to say we do not have an Xbox version, but I'm hoping that the timing will be very soon that I will have some kind of update to the players.
I'm sure there's a lot of things that people want to ask about on this subject, and there's a lot of things I want to share, but I'm afraid I'm unable to divulge on those details, so when the time comes... I'm sure the time will come, so if you could kindly stand by, that'd be great."
Back in February of this year, Yoshida suggested to VG247 that there were "no obstacles for developing the Xbox version", but the focus at the time was said to be on the game's Endwalker expansion and PlayStation 5 version.
Nevertheless, it sounds like an Xbox release isn't on the cards just yet. Fingers crossed we get one eventually!

......any word on any other ones people might want brought over.........?
@Xenomorph_79 All they’d need to do is put it on Game Pass and it would become popular on Xbox.
@Grumblevolcano it's a free to start subscription game. Game pass won't make a difference. They certainly won't include the subscription as part of game pass.
@Xenomorph_79 I don't know how many others are in my boat, but I'd try it if it came to Xbox.
I wish they'd bring FF7 Remake to Xbox.
I love FFXIV - have something like 400 hours on Steam. It’s an incredible game and has only gotten stronger over the years. It would do really well advertised somehow on Gamepass (even if it is free to start; putting it on there with some Perks or GPU Benefit might work) and the game itself and the expansions aren’t actually free after a certain (very far) point. so I don’t think it’s too late for it to come to Xbox at all. Just need the time to play it! I haven’t logged in for years (since Heavensward?) and just don’t have the time unfortunately.
I've been waiting years for XIV on Xbox!
I cannot wait. Had it day one on PS3 and then on PS4. Haven't played for years though.
Once Endwalker is finished and the story arc is done, a 'complete' edition on Xbox would be a thing of dreams 😍
@Xenomorph_79 I play FFXIV on my PS5 and would jump to XBox in a heartbeat if it was available.
We know that Sony paid SE to keep FF7R exclusive, and the same will hold true for XVI. It’s not about it being an afterthought as much as it being paid for.
@Xenomorph_79
Look at how long other MMOs like STO, DCUO, and Neverwinter, were available on other platforms before dropping.
They seem to be doing well so far.
@Xenomorph_79 Games like VII Remake and XVI will come to Xbox eventually, but there'll probably keep being this gap of a year or more for games in this series as long as Sony is bribing them for timed exclusivity.
Thankfully for me, VII Remake 2 is probably half a generation off and, based on what we've seen, I couldn't care less about XVI, so I'm not in any rush to grab a PS5.
Hopefully all the consoles will get those pixel remasters of the older games next year. Still seems nuts they're exclusive to mobile and PC.
I would download it in a heartbeat if it came to Xbox. Would love to jump into Endwalker on launch but my pc is not working so this would be great.
I stopped playing FFIV years ago. A monthly sub is so passe.
