We got a glimpse of Craig the Brute's makeover in the recent Halo Infinite campaign gameplay overview, and now Microsoft has gone a step further with a direct before and after shot. It's absolutely blowing up on social media right now, with more than 65K Likes at the time of writing.
In the latest Inside Infinite blog, 343 has also highlighted Craig's "glow-up", with the same updated image:
"Render of an incredibly detailed Brute. Craig did indeed get quite the glow-up!"
In the same post, Halo Infinite character designers Steve Dyck and Bryan Repka shared some open and honest thoughts about the team's relationship with Craig the Brute. Although it's a "love-hate relationship", he's in good hands:
SD: Haha, the team has sort of a love-hate relationship with Craig. While it was fun to see the community gravitate towards Craig, he unfortunately represented some content and systems that were not ready for prime time in that demo. The positive outcome of Craig was that he was one of the factors in gaining some more time to finish work and get Brutes to a place where the team is happy with them. This is one of the many positive examples of 343 working with and aligning with the Halo community around expectations. Players who look hard enough will still be able to find some evidence of Craig in Halo Infinite, his spirit lives on!
BR: Craig is in good hands, trust me! He has gone through some changes, but I am here to say that he has glammed up. He is feeling very good about himself and has fit back in well with the rest of his Brute friends. He has also picked up a new hobby and has done well for himself. Long live Craig!
What do you think of Craig now after his latest makeover? Better now? Leave your thoughts down in the comments.

People body shaming Craig should be ashamed in themselves. 😉
Overall I think he looks better, I'm sure haters will will zoom in 100000000% to the point he's a singular pixelated square, while others will be like "he looked fine before" which I think so, too. The whole Craig situation had become a monument for fan wars, even now there are people looking to make a Craig meme with a different brute, and it's honestly the saddest thing I've seen in the gaming community. On the plus side, all that needless negative diatribe nonsense only achieved one thing, the team at 343 getting more time to polish the game, other than that, it was just an excuse to jump on a wagon for likes and shares. It became popular to post a video on why halo is in trouble because of craig, people who probably didn't even care were cashing in on the views 😒 meanwhile Sony die hards lapped it up and did their very best to promulgate this unflattering idea that Xbox has flopped. Sad, tragic, and even now, still needlessly talked about
The level of drama this created was stupid to begin with but apparently drama is entertainment. It just annoys me but our boi looks great, definitely a lot of work has been put into him. I'm glad they delayed the game and kind of think they weren't 100% intending to release it last year anyway.
@Carck
But but xbox is the consoles with no games eyeroll
I wanted them to keep the original Craig in there he’s a celebrity and it would have been a funny Easter egg.
I would be hilarious for him to have a line or two, and hearing others brutes actually calling him "Craig" xD
Nevertheless, I'm so, so happy with what the game seems to have become. I just cannot wait till december.
Oh, wait... actually, yes I can : Forza just finished to download in my console ! Seriously, what a great end of year for the Xbox brand !
Up the Craig but I don't dig it. His OG design was so funny.
they are comparing an in game image to a cutscene image 😑
@UltimateOtaku91 Okay
Great glow up for Craig, glad the delay payed off!
@Carck if that's in game that count me impressed, I'm sure I read its a cgi/render though.
Hmm let's see an in game comparison
When all this started I thought to myself "No big deal, not like I'm going to see much detail when in a firefight with grenades and such happening everywhere" which is true to a point. Then I realised I spend a lot of time in FPS games looking at piles of corpses I've created and realised this will actually matter to me. Am I the only one?
Anyway, looks incredible now. Good work.
Personally, I would've double down on old Craig. Remove most textures. Simplify the mesh a bit. Tuck him away somewhere secret on the Zeta Halo. Then have him jump out at Master Chief in all his OG Xbox graphics glory and scream "Craig forevah motha****as!"
But that's just me.
Craig probably has had more coverage than the average, untalented, reality TV star, especially with this makeover.
Rightly so.
@RedKnight34 Xbox is what finally has got me to buy the stuff for my flight/driving sim cockpit. And I have gaming PC as well lol.
See, this is why kids shouldn't compare themselves to airbrushed models they see in media. We've seen Craig without the makeup and airbrushing. It's ok to be like Craig. You don't need to look like the phony you see on screen.
Glow up.. it's more a change in creative direction. Give a f*** what he looks like before or after, they changed him for their own reasons. The internet these days are too sad.
@Savage_Joe why is it sad? For supporting the Devs decision to change a character?
