Yesterday marked the release of Far Cry 6 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, and we've seen plenty of praise for it across social media so far, along with very positive reports about its performance.
Players have been taking to the Xbox Series X subreddit to share their experiences with it:
There's been a fair bit of discussion surrounding the critical reviews of the game that dropped earlier this week, many of which had very good things to say, but criticised the fact that it feels like the same old Far Cry experience. The player response hasn't been all positive, but plenty of Xbox and Far Cry fans seem to be happy so far.
In terms of performance, it's been suggested that the game runs at a near-locked 60fps across Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with PS5). The game is said to utilise dynamic resolution, and according to a test from VGTech, Xbox Series X boasts the best maximum resolution of the three consoles at 3840x2160 (lowest is 3072x1728), while the Xbox Series S runs at an impressive 2560x1440 resolution (lowest is 1920x1080).
Meanwhile, the Xbox One version is getting reports of a near-locked 30fps, so all seems good there too.
It's a good start, then, but how are you getting on with Far Cry 6? Let us know down in the poll below.

I'll wait for a sale. It sounds like it's pretty much Far Cry 3 all over again again again.
The game is pure fun. People lately keep missing the point. I don't care if it is a typical ubi game. If it is a Far Cry 3 reskin. I don't care if it isn't revolutionize the gaming industry. The game is so fun that you start playing in 21:00 for a couple of minutes before sleep and suddendly the time is 01
Only in the first area and loving it and preferring it to new dawn and farcy 4 & 5.
Just something about it’s structure so far.
Series x 4K 60fps HDR, I can’t complain running smoothly and well.

It’s pretty fantastic. Many soldiers and their horses have been run over and over, double tap baby.
I've been hearing a lot of mixed feedback, some people seem to love it, but a lot of people are saying it's just yet another Far Cry, which sounds obvious but it's sign of franchise fatigue and apparently this is one of those situation where a game moves forwards in some ways and backwards in other ways. That and apparently there is a lot of political influence to the characters and story, however that might effect you.
Removed - unconstructive
I've had a good feeling about this one. FC is a good coop option, but I just couldn't stand 5. The environment just didn't work imo. This seems more in form. Not a full price game, but it's a ubi game. They hit sales fast. Might pick it up when it's low enough.
This is good to hear. I will definitely be picking this one up once I finish 5.
@AgentGuapo (Johnny Cash playing) "Going down, down, down, into the ring of death..."
Ok, lame, but on point!
I start Far Cry games, I enjoy them and then I get bored. I get the feeling this will be the same. I’ll pick it up on sale.
It is the first far Cry game I have played - I'm about 15 hours in and enjoying it so far
Why did they have to do such a boring cliché setup? Dictator, politics, crappy country, guerrillas, etc 🙄
Honestly they know it takes 2-3 years to create one of these games, and this was their best idea?
I'm in no rush to get FC6, if at all.
At least FC5 had some originality. I also enjoyed 2 and 4 but couldn't get into 3.
And it looks like once again they've filled it with unnecessary amounts of bad language, which makes it hard to play on speakers with other family members/children in the house.
